So theres a thread in the optics section and people are fighting over whether or not to keep it on or turn it off. They even said by turning it on or off it could fuck up then rotater switch, and by leaving it for years it could short circuit or some shit. Anyways have you guys had this problem with your Aimpoint from leaving on or costantly turning off/on? ETA: Heres the thread if you need some entertainment. It gets intresting on page 2.

Quoted: Get an EOTech /thread ![]() No thanks. The string of recoil induced failures in my 552 (even after installing their grommet kit to correct the unforgivable design flaw) turned me off those things. My $89 Bushnell red dot has been far more reliable under as hard or harder conditions. I love my 3 Aimpoints though. They are awesome. |

You are really torqued. I believe my comment was...Why shut it off? No need to, you are just puting extra wear on the knob. The knob is mechanical and therefore will eventually wear... |

Mine appears to, unless its a super low NV setting. I turn mine off when its in the safe and leave it on all day when i go shooting. Quoted:

My PRO doesn't turn off, just down. As far as I know... Mine appears to, unless its a super low NV setting. I turn mine off when its in the safe and leave it on all day when i go shooting. When my pro is in the "off" position I can still see the dot with my pvs-14. |

My gen 1 Kobra lasts about 7 months on the max brightness setting. But if I leave it on for a few days and try to turn it off, it'll stay on for a long, long time. Don't know why. I've been turning it on and off for years now, but the switch is russian and very sturdy. I doubt the Aimpoint switch is any less sturdy.

I have a home audio receiver from 1975 that works just fine - none of the 38 year old buttons or knobs have gone bad on it yet. I have a handful of radios from the 1930's and 1940's ... yeah one is missing a knob but shit happens in 80 years.
The kind of person who doesn't rotate the knob on their sight is the kind that doesn't pull the trigger on their rifle, or start their car, or answer their cell phone. I had my aimpoint 4s on since 09. Still on the Duracell it came with, My aimpoint pro lasts 6-8 months on one battery with it staying on the highest setting. It's not that fucking sunny in IL year round. I just keep it on the lowest setting needed for visibility in my house during the day time. You could always turn it "slightly more on" but just put it on a setting that doesn't wash out in your house during the day, or ruin visibility in your house at night. |

I always manage to leave mine on... not on purpose but its not uncommon for me to have an aimpoint on in the safe fot months at a time on rifles that I don't shoot often. Never had a problem either way. Sounds like people are running out of things to argue about so they are making shit up.

My 12 year old Aimpoint LED was odd looking. I sent it to them. They sent me a brand new model in return. Beat that. I use the on/off switch. Two years past the warranty period and they sent a replacement unit for free? That cannot be beat. Stories like this are why I bought Aimpoints a few years ago. |
