Probably about 3 years ago I saw a documentary from a thread on arfcom. It was about a marketplace that was setup in Argentina which used "coupons" or tickets instead of peso's.
You would come with your goods to sell, and the first time as a seller were given a small amount of these "coupons" or tickets which other sellers would accept (there were no cash transactions, everything was these coupons). You would get more for selling your goods or services, and then turn around and buy your own needs with them. It was an interesting perspective to a local economy void of a nationally backed currency. Help me find it! |
