| I was wondering the best way to post music? I'm under the impression that I need to find a place to host the file, so I can post a link. Is this the case? And if so does anyone know if there is a free service that would host music? Thanks. |

Quoted: I'll tell you, but you have to promise it's not bagpipes first. he he LOL! What's wrong with bagpipes? Have you never heard the Dropkick Murphy's "Cadence To Arms", or AC/DC's "Long Way To The Top"? Bagpipes are awesome, especially with some pub rock thrown in. I can't promise anything, but won't you be so kind as to help a brother out? JackBurton, I was actually thinking about some Arresting Officers or Forced Reality. Why you got any requests? |

Ok, now I'm probably sounding really stupid. But by "web space", are you referring to some kind of web hosting like with pictures? Sorry, but I'm completely freaken computer illiterate. I tried doing a web search for a free music host site but didn't come up with anything. Or is there a different way to get "web space"? Sorry Jack, but no go on "Under The Gods". I do have SkullHead though. Not that there's anything wrong with that! [:)] Do you still keep up with the music scene at all? Man, there's some damn good stuff out there nowadays. |

Quoted: All you need to do is FTP it up to your web space and link it like a normal URL. You have to have WEB space. What he's referring to is the storage space most internet service providers give you for putting up a personal web site. Usually 5-10megs. Who is your provider? "Free" and "bandwidth" haven't gone together in several years. It existed under a fantasy that someone would find a way to get people to pay for it eventually, and they'd already have customers. Turns out most people don't want to pay, and just went away. These days, you generally have to pay for your bandwidth (kinda like you have to pay for gas to go places, even if you already own your car). You probably are already paying for a small amount along with your ISP service. Generally, it will be restricted two ways: - the total size of the files you can copy to your ISP's server (often 10MB), AND - the amount of bandwidth used per day/week/month For example, if your account allows 50MB of bandwidth per day, and you posted an MP3 song that was 5MB in size, then 10 people could download that song per day (provided no one downloaded anything else from your directory). After the max bandwidth is used up, your ISP's software will "turn off" access to your files until the next tracking period (day/week/month), and the counter resets. To get more filespace and/or more bandwidth, you have to pay extra. There are hundreds of web hosts online to choose from, with many different rate plans. -Troy |
