(I hope this title suits a few people better.)
AR15.Com and Castle Arms have decided to go their separate ways with regards to this event and further firearm projects. This decision has come to pass due to a number of events which have taken place over the past year. While we will continue to support all firearm related activities, the BRC will not be affiliated with this site. We felt it in our best interests to take this stand at this time. We wish Castle Arms the best of luck with their business endeavors. On a positive note, AR15.Com will be following through on an annual gathering in Texas slated for the Fall of 2003. The goal of the event will be to showcase the wonderful people involved in our sport as well as to enjoy several days of shooting. (Location, Dates, And Specifics to come!) Please keep any discussions or comments in this post civilized and free of insult. |

I'm cool with that. I am sure both parties will put on a great gathering. Personally, I could give a crap less about the underlying reasons, since they do not effect me. I try and not inject myself into someone elses bidness. [:D].

Will most likely take place the weekend after Knob Creek which also coincides with Columbus Day weekend.
Nothing is set in stone, we're finalizing the location and dates at this time. It will not take place the same weekend as Knob Creek... that is a certainty. |

Well GB, I read the title, and your first note in this thread. I'd say it was polite, and professionally done.
IMHO "AR15.COM No Longer Sponsoring BRC" was more professional than the first post. Well done! (And, just for the record, I'm trying to complement you for taking the time to think of a better title this time, not trying to bust your balls for the first one) |

Woooooohoooooooo!!!!!!!!
Two cool shooting events per year? Hm.... Who can complain about that? [:D] |
|
Okay, whoever just took the AR-Ladys crash course in tact please raise your hands. [:D]
-------- Sorry to hear about the separation. Those of Castle Arms that I've met are good people. As are the ARFcom folks. If the ideological/economical [or whatever] differences cannot be worked out, I hope that at least there is no bad blood. We all made a pretty good online-family. I'll see you in Texas. +Stealth |

I'm up for a Texas "Rifle convention". It's a shame things worked out the way that they did, but, ya know what? SHIT HAPPENS. "Move along there's nothing to see here" Some will go to the Tx shoot, some will go to BRC, some will go to both (Lucky fuckers).... One thing is clear to me. AR15.com is a well run, well moderated site. I prefer it to all others. I have not given money, but have had the opportunity to facilitate a "rescue" of a fellow member via this site's posts/forum and I feel proud to tell people that it happened here. See y'all at the Texas shoot! If it ever stops raining here in Houston that is!! |
|
What a great idea to have the annual shoot in Texas! Give me a date cause I'm gonna be the first one in line. [;)]

A fall shoot in Texas sounds good to me! The BRC happens at a bad time of year for me and I personally felt the location was a little too remote, but I enjoyed it nonetheless despite its obvious initial shortcomings. The TX. shoot sounds like fun and I look forward to learning more about it.

Goatboy just how much money do you think we will have left to spend at your shoot the week after we attend Knob Creek?
|
|
I understand that Knob Creek will eat away at your pocket book, but many of the vendors will be at both events, and will enjoy the non-creek traffic. (It should be significant I would imagine.)
The other piece of this is that we're not there to make money, so it wont hurt me any. If you spend all yer money shooting there, come for the comradery and enjoyment of your fellow board warriors. [=P] |

Quoted: Woooooohoooooooo!!!!!!!! Two cool shooting events per year? Hm.... Who can complain about that? [:D] View Quote Only two? From my occasional perusals of this board, it seems like we can reasonably expect at least 4 regional shoots: Arizona, Northwest, Illinois BRC, Great Southern Freedom Shoot) plus the official ARF.com shoot in TX. Best part is, as a Texas resident, I may be able to have a reason to go back besides to just pick up a backlog of ordered firearms! While the actual reasons may have been different, I agree that is is better now that one vendor doesn't have an event that seems more endorsed than another. As I see it, Castle Arms can be to the BRC just like it seems Cavalry Arms was to the Arizona Shoot. Heck, maybe you folks can have informal contest with the media (number that show up, number of different outlets, who can get the most positive write-up, etc [:)].) Damn I need to get back to the states. Adam |

Is you striking out the BRC listing your way of trying to piss people off? I have noticed several threads you have posted in or started in ref. to the BRC and LEGP. I would not expect this from a Staff member. If you have a problem with a certain event, a certain product, or even a certain person this is NOT the place to show it. From what I see you are doing your best to divide this fine board. medcop |

Those who can go to Texas are welcome to go Those who can attend both are lucky and assured to have agreat time. Those who cannot attend either should not worry. There will be other shoots where we will meet you and have a great time! Now,boys (Rich and N) behave yourselves or Grandpa Ed will have to ground you both for a week. [:D] |

I've spoken to RBAD regarding this, but as it is a big change, emotions are running high on all sides of the fence. The staff has discussed a few items at length regarding this issue and many of us, are trying to speak out in our own way.
Not everyone will feel the same way... |

Sorry Medcop.
My comments were inapropriate. Is it still ok for me to hate Lautenberg though? [:D] |

Ummm... so... when is the next Alaska shoot?
HAHAHAHA....hehe... whine... |

Cool!!
Are we going to "dust off" the old TBRS??? I am always interested in a rifle shoot in Texas. I attended the first back in April of 1999, and would enjoy another in this great state. Bring it on!!! |
|
Ummmm... y'all may have one aftershooting event at The Lodge... but I hope there's an alternative for those of us who abhor, hate, detest and generally DO NOT LIKE strip joints.
Did I mention I can't stand strip clubs? [:D] |
|
Miss Magnum, Jeanelle, Kelley, Michelle......and the list goes on, AND ON, should be able to get into plenty of trouble by yourselves. I will even volunteer to "escort" all of you ladies on your mission.....
|
|
The only night of a possible Lodge visit would be BEFORE the event takes place and is a big maybe.
Depending on what happens in the next week or two we'll have nailed down a LOT of the specifics and will look at smaller things like festivities and locations. [=)] The Lodge is NOT on the schedule for this event. It may be on the schedule for my other usual Dallas pilgrimage though! [=D] |
