Dog throws up his meal because he ate it too fast.

Should I let him eat it back up?

Yes, he's a dog.

Of course, but don't feed him again tomorrow, or he'll put on too much weight.

FPNI.

That's really common. He's a dog. That's what they do.

They make bowls designed to slow down how fast the dog eats. Ya might want to look into it.

In the future, spread his food out on a cookie sheet.  He won't be able to swallow his food in big ravenous bites.

Yes.  Dogs are "self-cleaning" in a few (but not many) aspects...

ETA: to be a bit more helpful, there are special bowls and some tricks that you can use to prevent eating too fast.  Our mastiff would inhale food when he was young and we tried a few things that worked to a degree, but it turns out that he naturally slowed down once he got a bit older.

Or if you use one of those metal stamped bowls, just turn it over and make him pick it out from the valley portion.

Yea, I feed 3x per day as is, and have been splitting each feeding into 1/3 portions.

Today's upheaval was due to a treat I gave him and he literally swallowed it.

Wild dogs carry food back to their pups by bolting it down, then vomiting it back up when they get home.
Eating vomited food is what dogs have done from puppyhood since dogs existed.

My pup did that. Got a treat ball(soccer ball w/ hole in one side) she had to roll it around and food falls out.

After a few weeks she learned to eat slowly. No problems since, although sometimes I put her food in it just to piss her off.

All the "eat slow" bowls don't work for us, since we a feed prey-model raw diet. We just feed large chunks of meat. Sometime they regurgitate and re-eat, but for the most part it stays down.
