So, I just binge watched all of Justified over the last two months or so.
I enjoyed the show, but there are several areas where a conscious effort to suspend disbelief must be made. No problem. I'll play along because I like to be entertained. One thing, what's up with Boyd being Kingpin in the making and we've only seen him have more than two or three guys in his crew on a couple of occasions? (shootout with Dickie Bennett's crew, for example). Is it just supposed to be implied that he has a larger organization; or is it just him and two or three guys who manage to run the county? |

I have enjoyed the different versions of Boyd from White Power guy to Religious nut, but my favorite villian is still the old matriarch who ran the store. I especially liked her final scene. Her and the guy who played Buck Compton from BoB were probably the two greatest TV villians in the last 20 years of so of TV (I didn't watch the Wire, so I can comment). Having both in the same series was impressive. The Buck Compton guy, no spoilers here, but he had the potential to be Raylan Givens version of the Joker. I think they could have done more with him. |

I got the impression he would, and could, just bring in muscle when he needed it. Of course, one key guy betrayed him and one committed suicide by cop. Two guys betrayed him and there was the suicide by cop. That's why I was wondering if the had a bench to fall back on. |
| First counties in Kentucky are small. We have 120 counties here. The rural counties have small populations. So when he is "running the county" that a county of only 29,000 people. What makes Boyd a Kingpin is that he knows everyone, has connections that let him skirt the law, and he will kill you if you challenge him. Take him out and Eva will hunt you down and kill you and probably your family. Unless you plan on killing a lot of people you don't challenge those in charge. If you remember early on Boyd and Maggs had an understanding and controlled different aspects of the illicit trades. |

It's network television... budgets are tight! ![]() Just enjoy it for what it is... a pretty good show. |

Crazy thing is there are quite a few women in Kentucky hollers who would look like that if they didn't get hooked on meth and pills. |

His organization is his family, kith and kin. Them's clan folk down Kaintuck way.
It gets real clannish around Appalachia, and if you get one or two families that run an organized crime racket, everyone outside of the clan participates in it, benefits from it, or just tries to stay clear of it. In the case of Justified, it implied that the Crowder Clan runs the criminal syndicate in that county. When Boyd becomes the patriarch of his clan, they follow his lead. Thus, he's the king of the county. |

Didn't his dad wipe out a whole bunch of his guys in season 2? Sometimes I button my shirt all the way to the top and start talking like him to mess with my wife. He's a great character. Yup. I'm guessing Boyd picked up his dad's crew when Bo got picked off. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
