We are looking at upgrading some W2k pcs to XP and almost everybody hates the new look.  I know we can switch to "classic" view from the start menu.  But that does not change much other than the start menu.  I was wondering if there was a way to switch all of XP to look "classic" without changing properties in every single window.

Thanks

there are many programs that let you change the way windoz xp looks. The one I use and like is stylexp. it lets you make/download different things to customize your desktop.

right click the desktop, properties. change the theme to Classic. and change your start menu to classic. that should do it. control panel, left hand side you can click "switch to classic view" and that will change back to, the catagory mode would work if they had 50+ items in the control panel but there are so few its pointless.

i use a program called windowblinds to reskin and change how windows looks, i use the XP start menu because once you get used to it you tend to like it. My comp, network, ect are all right there dont have to minimize everything, even using the show desktop button.

if you want your computers to still maintain some of the "speed", don't reskin it with programs like Stardock's WindowBlinds or you will bog down the system. (plus, I have encountered bugs with reskinning programs-- especially after Windows updates ;)...)

Stardocks skinning engine is quicker than microsofts. btw even with windowblinds, DesktopX displaying about 9 system meters, a half dozen other bits giving me various system info, system runtime, proc type/speed mem usage, upload/download channel usage. drive usage. current time/date/Day.  With all that running , my CPUs average usage is 3-5% and that is with 5 IE windows open and email.plus Norton Antivirus. all told, 190 megs used of 512.

3 things must be up the the challenge

Ram (256 Meg Minimum, windows eats 100 after its up, 1 IE window takes 18 megs.)
Video card (geforce2+)
CPU 700Mhz+

once you meet all 3 closely you wont have any speed issues at all.
