[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 4th of July DUI Checkpoint (Page 1 of 17)
|
Quoted: Happy independence day. On the way home from watching fireworks last night, my family engaged in a discussion of why we don't feel like we really had much to celebrate this 4th of July. Strange time we live in. Regarding personal liberty, there's no question that the nation is moving in the wrong direction. |

Wondering which statist is going to come in and defend this. I've been referred to as a "whore of the state" before on this site. You'll never see me defend a DUI checkpoint. They're useless anyway. Quoted:

| Growing up my town ran 2 separate check points every holiday and usually every other weekend in the summer time. Same fucking thing every time "You been drinking and partying tonight?", "Hmm kinda smells like weed", "Why you squinting? you high?" (while shining a flashlight in my eyes). In the end I never got arrested since I never did anything wrong, but they successfully made me bitter towards LEO each and every time they treated me like a criminal. |
| They do these check points every year in my part of TN and we usually roll through them because of where we generally go for the 4th, always have a DD and several intoxicated people and we've never had an issue. Several times we didn't even get checked but waved through. They do a lot of them in TN it seems. The attitude of the officer in the video is the reason they get painted with a broad brush. He's obviously a bully type, I'm sure he won't see any discipline. Makes me sick when he mocks the guys constitutional rights. |

Cops bitch about haters but with shit like this they bring it on themselves. Cops bitch about the haters ? If they were smart, they'd at least stop doing everything possible to create more. Not you specifically but the dickheads in that video are not doing themselves or the public any favors. |

An example of good policing, to balance the nonsense in the OP: No just another example of piss poor policing and an example of theft. No PC or RS of a crime means no seizure of property no matter how temporary. |

Soviet Union used to spy on its people, and collect secret files of information on almost everyone in the country. Soviet Union used to block the travel of its citizens within its borders. Soviet Union used to stop people at random, ask for their papers and question them to look for enemies of the motherland. Soviet Union used to make its people disappear into prison with no trial for years on end, if at all. Soviet Union is gone now. Someone had to pick up the slack. |

Enlighten me of a state that doesn't conduct any sort of road block or checkpoint? |

I have had several run ins with OPD, they're out in force every weekend around Camp Pendleton, I'd say it is about 50/50 good guys and douchebags. They hate motorcyclists too apparently, probably because there are so many around here. |
