I was thinking it might be a good idea to have a "questions from new AR owners" or "AR15 for beginners" sub forum in the AR15 tech forums.
It would be a place for those who are new to the platform to ask questions like "Will brass marks hurt my brass deflector?" "What's the difference between a carbine and a middy?" and the ever popular "Why does my AR make a sprooooiiiinggg sound?" Not only would it free up the AR discussion forum from the same old topics over and over but it would be a place for specified place for newbs to go to have their questions answered. I'm sure many of our experienced members would gladly drop in to answer questions and give advice. Opinions? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

There are so many FAQ's in so many of the tech forums it makes my head spin. Why add another layer? Not another FAQ section. It's fairly obvious that most newbs don't read it anyway. I'm talking about an actual discussion forum. After a quick glance at the AR forum, I see st least 5 topics that would belong in such a forum, on just the first page. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

1 nobody would go 2 experienced people still ask basic questions So, no Dan is right. They don't even read the FAQ that is there for that specific purpose. The tech section is going to perpetually be filled with the same basic questions and also non tech issues that belong in GD or elsewhere, because folks can't be bothered to put topics where they belong. |

FPFTW We dont need a spoon feeding forum. We need members that are not metrosexuals that can read, comprehend and learn, not FSA for basic information |

Hmm sounds like the FSA, food stamp bitches and the root cause of a lot of problems with the country. It's fairly obvious that most newbs don't read it anyway. Fuck them, this is not a retard special olympics we got here. |

http://www.ar15.com/forums/b/9_Training.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_6/2_General_Firearm_Discussion.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/b/3_AR_15.html If you cannot find the info you need in any of those three, you need to go back to 3rd grade reading classes. Not trying to be a dick about it, but FFS this place has a plethora of resources on every aspect of not only AR15s, but anything shooting and firearm related in general. team gets even more resources. |

| We're talking about a forum like that for basic/stupid questions and the "Hey I'm Fred from Duluth!" and "here is a photo of my Doublestar!" threads that are lacking in technical merit but probably do not deserve to be moved to the General Discussion monkey cage. |

Wouldn't help. They'd just post in the wrong place. The AR-15 tech forum is barely worth visiting. Pic threads and stupid ass questions over and over. Coyote tan pic thread. FDE pic thread. Patriot brown pic thread. Taupe pic thread. 14.5" pic thread. 14.7" pic thread 10.3" pic thread 10.5" pic thread. Samson rail pic thread. Centurion rail pic thread. KAC rail pic thread. A different pic thread for every shade of tan, barrel length and brand of handguards can be a bit much. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Great! Even an AR-15 general discussion for basic questions and pic threads and an AR-15 technical discussion would be great. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
