Guy at work gave us a 5 year old lab yesterday.  The dog is spitting up clear fluids every now and then.  Is this anything to be concerned with?  She is still playful and seems healthy.  Shot history is unknown.

I'd start with the vet and shots. Puking multiple times in 2 days doesn't sound right.

ETA: At 5 she should still be quite playful an active.

It will be midweek before I can get her to the vet for shots.

Any chance she has eaten something abnormal?

Don't think so.  Maybe change of dog food?

I have a Lab German Shepard Mix and she has always had a sensitive stomach, she eats very slowly. When we first got her she would eat a couple bites and then throw it up until she got used to the new dog food.

Can someone make the link hot.  I can't get it to work on my phone.

In my bulldog experience, if food and water is going in and "normal stuff" is coming out, there's generally not much to worry about.  Could be just the change in home life, stress, etc.  I'd give it a day or so before becoming too concerned.

Could she be getting to hot?  She was an inside dog before.  We took her walking this morning and she wasn't use to it.

Thanks for the ideas.  Going to call the vet in the am to make apt for shots and see why she's a puker.

Is this happening right after she drinks a lot of water very fast?

Haven't noticed.  She is eating and drinking good though.  Had a hotdog, hamburger+dog food.

dog food is crap, give her omnivore food, you know the stuff we eat but nothing that she can't have like onions

Thats why it is called 'dog food.'
Some breeds have very sensitive stomachs, especially German Shepherd Dogs.
Don't know about labs, but keep it on dog food and away from 'people food.'
Good luck, keep us updated.

Is she barfing when her stomach is empty and is the fluid yellowish? If so,  it could be duodenal reflux, where the intestine contents back up a little into the stomach and irritate it, causing them to puke. My old Lab had it, would hurl liquid bile at 4 AM a few times a week.
Adding another small snack at bedtime stopped it, by keeping the digestive contents moving southbound  all night :).

Get her to the vet soon anyway.

Our Bassets used to do this. eat and then drink too much water. Then throw up 20ml or so on the floor. lots of mucus in it but they seemed to feel much better.

I could bank on it and chalked it up to the fact they never figured out that food would expand with water.  The dog food swells and something has to go and the water is on top.

Take a little food and let it soak for a few minuets and see the expansion. If you cut back on the dry kibble and let her drink her fill she will keep it all down.

Your mileage may vary.

Don't assume just because your Lab is happy and playful all is well.  Mine swallowed a tennis ball and was completely happy near death.

I wouldn't be too concerned.  Take a trip to a good vet for evaluation and shots ASAP.

Mine do that if they drink too much water too fast.

Going to vet Wed.  They didn't seem concerned.
