[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Facebook Strikes again (Page 1 of 2)
Posted: 6/25/2013 5:04:07 AM EDT
Nothing this kid did is illegal under Florida Law, including discharging a firearm in a residential area. State Law has pre-emptied all local laws since the eighties, and the only state law is against reckless and negligent discharge, which requires that the bullet leave your property. Trapping or killing nuisance animals is not illegal either.
Some Deputy Dufus is trying to make a case which the State Attorney will have to drop. But the kid is still in jail, and his family will have to post bond, and lawyers paid, and a huge hassle. Don't post on facebook.

right.... lets relocate your problem; take the racoon YOU DIDNT WANT and release it somewhere else... smart... OP is right tho... wouldnta posted that ![]() My MIL just had 7000 USD in damage to her attic from a family of raccoons this past month. Had to call in her homeowners insurance to get the decontamination, roof repair, and re-insullation. She paid a trapper, but he took off with the $700 she paid him and never returned. |

I don't see the need to post video's and clips, pics and daily activities of my life.
Sometimes the attention you get is not what you are expecting. 10 people can look at a pic of you and your child and come away with 10 different opinions and only 1 has to make a phone call to land you in a shit load of trouble. The most simple innocent act is always subject to somebodies opinion. Put your stuff out there and you are subject. Stupid... |

Similar response here of ARFCOM when the discussion of (venomous)snakes comes up.
There are always those recommending that you relocate the critter as opposed to killing it. The real lesson to be learned is making/posting vidoe evidence of damn near anything is short sighted at the very least and borderline self destructive.

Geez youd HAVE to know that the majority of people will see a video of a guy executing a caged raccoon and immediately flip out.
WHY would you post the video, knowing that. Killing pest animals happens, all over, all the time. But I don't really feel bad for the moron kid either. |

Mr. FancyPants Animal Trapper just wants more work (relocation services, etc) for himself. Actually relocating certain species is illegal depending in the state. I don't know about Florida but in states where I worked as a nuisance wildlife trapper/removal raccoons could not be legally relocated. Any raccoon caught in a trap I had to put down. It pisses me off when other trappers tell a homeowner they will relocate animals that are illegal to relocate. I lost a couple jobs because I was honest with Mrs. Homeowner when she asked where I would take the sweet little raccoon she was paying me to removed from her attic. Apparently being truthful and telling her the state makes me put ti down and that noone else would want to raccoon relocated to thier property anyway is not what Mrs. Homeowner wants to hear. |

This is what happens when America turns into a bunch of pussies. Not just America, the petition was worldwide. The world must be pretty perfect for a kid culling nuisance animals to draw worldwide attention. The anchor lady sounded like she wanted the sister arrested as well. |
City folks...
Don't shoot that raccoon... at any moment he's going to start in to a rousing song and dance about keeping your chin up or looking at the bright side!!!
I also love how standing up, baring teeth, and hissing the raccoon equivalent of "Imma fuck you up!!" is "cowering in fear" to the news reader. On a related note... raccoons are some resilient little fuckers. I... know a guy who had to dispatch a chicken-killing raccoon a couple of weeks back. Hornady .357 Mag 125gr FTX to the face and the little SOB was still trashing around with half a head. |

The anchor woman, Lauren Rowe, is a complete ditz, dumb as a bag of rocks. Anytime she goes off script the stupid comes dribbling out of her mouth. |

Facebook is practically designed to foster any narcissistic personality traits people may already possess. It's not a good thing for a lot of people. |

I'm not a hunter by any means...
What did this kid do wrong? - I'm no expert but it seems like he was goading the animals into hissing up against the cage so he could get an easy shot to the head. Just because the death is "violent" doesn't mean it's not humane. To my understanding - one to the head is about as good as it gets right? To me this looks like a good shoot - why the hate? I think filming it might have been unwise- but certainly there doesn't appear to be anything illegal occurring in the video...just some kid in the woods killing destructive animals that he caught...unless I'm wrong? |
|
we have the exact same crap on the discovery channel. animals are trapped and dispatched.
The videos might not be as gruesome and without seeing the uncensored version we don't really know why people are freaking out. Wish the people freaking out would take a trip to a slaughter house some time |

Its is illegal in the state of Florida to relocate any trapped nuisance wildlife. not even the humane society will come pick it up. If you trap the animal, you are responsible for the bill to euthanize, or take care of it yourself. Just make sure you are out of city limits, and make sure no one sees your do it. The trapper in the video is breaking the law if he is in fact, relocating these trapped animals. |

Video Stupid fucks... all around. |
| I won't shoot them in the cage, Blood and brain matter tend to leave a odor that some of the wiser ones will avoid. So I am sporting, I put the cage in the middle of a hay field about 100 yards from woods. If he makes it to the woods, good for him, I get some moving target practice so win win. Well, Win loose since none have made it to the woods. |

He upset some people's delicate sensibilities. And unfortunately for him, they are trying to find a way to prosecute him for it. He dispatched two nuisance animals quickly and humanely as he could. Since hurt feelings are not a crime yet, they're attempting to find some other way to make a criminal out of behavior that was not criminal in nature. |

It's because America is turning into a bunch of pussies that some people even give a shit what some moron in a lesser country has to say. Do you think George Washington would have taken a petition from somebody in Mexico about an American killing a raccoon seriously? Fuck no he wouldn't. He would have challenged them to a duel and shot them in the face. |
