In effect, the FBI is breaking the law by distributing child pornography to catch lawbreakers. This ain't 'To Catch a Predator' we're talking about. This is the FBI maintaining a kiddie porn trafficking site.
OK in this case, but not in others? After all, the ATF allowed - even encouraged - straw purchases of guns in order to track them to the Mexican drug cartels during Operation Fast and Furious.

Unfortunately messy way to do it, but the website was already there. I'm sure this helped catch a lot of pedos.

It used to be called "entrapment" but what the hell, it's for the children, so the end justifies the means.
