Interesting thoughts from PJ media post..... http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2013/06/07/your-computer-is-bugging-your-house/ |
|
I've never connected a webcam to my computer. I don't even trust JAVA apps not to control a camera without my permission. No microphone is normall connected, either. Occasionally I've used a headset when talking to fellow team members while playing some games, but I haven't even done that in a few years. |
|
Quoted:
The article linked mentions a German-made movie , The Lives Of Others , that is streaming on Netflix .....got pretty good reviews from the looks of it . Very good movie, won all kinds of awards. |
| If somebody was downloading recordings from all computer mics and cams no way would that go unnoticed, there would be civilian hackers who've documented it on their own machines and they'd be writing popular how to articles and distributing detection freeware. That's not to say it can't be done on a limited basis, against ignorant folk like myself, I just don't believe you could do it universally for long without the tier one geeks catching on. |

Call me paranoid. |

If they want to listen to the audio on my computer blaring two chicks eating each other and watch me molest myself, we really do have a fucked up government. I was thinking they are getting a lot of DP and butt fuck porn off of my apple. Oh well hope they enjoy. |

Remember those cases of schools issuing laptops with cameras and microphones to students and then teachers and school administrators remotely turning on the cameras and audio to see what the kids were doing at home? |

So much for PJ Media as a legit source of information.
I'm a software engineer. Video uses bandwidth. Audio uses bandwidth. Lots. Even if your computer was infected and sending, you could easily identify the traffic by looking at an upstream device (or a simple sniffer). Sorry, but whoever wrote that "news" article has no fucking clue what the fuck they are talking about. "Automatic Bushwacker Assault Rifle 15 in 223mm", etc/ |
