hello'

our 6 year old, american std- 5 ton, home a/c unit is not having a problem cooling home.  the problem is the blower in the attic keeps
starting and stop every few seconds.  changed temp settings up and down nothing helps.  a/c man is saying nohing is wrong with system.
only thing he can think of is the control board, $700.

any input.????  suggestions??

thanks

If he's just gonna take a shotgun approach to fixing it, I'd get online and find that board cheaper.

Is the motor start capacitor good?  $15 part.

I fixed my HVAC unit by replacing the control board for 70 bucks. Cheap for me. I was quoted thousands to fix it from several companies. Found mine on Amazon.

per a/c repair person, all system check out fine.  of course the blower would not start and stop while he was here.  the am std unit model number is either
4a7a2018-060b1000aa or 4a7a4018-060b1000aa

per invoice it's a 5 ton unit.  everything was carrier (controls in the attic?) until unit outside went bad and it was replaced with the am. std.
best i can understand the units controls in the attic have not been changed.  did have a board go bad @6 years ago and it was $700 to replace the board.

thanks for input.

Might have more luck in the DIY forum.  They helped me fix my AC when it died and they saved me a bundle as well.

those are the model numbers for the condenser and it was the 12 seer model, the air handler should be a 2t or twe air handler if its american standard and not a carrier
