Woke up this morning with my eyes almost sealed shut with gack. Swollen eyelids
and horribly bloodshot. I've had conjunctivitius once before - about 15 years ago, but
I think it's what I've got now. Great - on a holiday weekend to boot.

Wont be able to see my Eye Dr. till tuesday but what can I do in the meantime to
limit the "itchyness and goo" coming from my face?  I have "Neomycin and Polymyxin B
Sulfates and Gramicidin Opthalmic Solution" eye drops my daughter got last month and
I believe this is whats used to treat pink eye.

Should I take an antibiotic too? What do I do when I want to rip my eyeballs out?
Hot compress? Cold Compress.  Any help appreciated as I dont think an ER visit
is worth this....

You are going to need drops.

Have a friend that's a doc or an FNP?   Have them call you in some moxeza.

Edit.  Warm moist compress

You can go to a urgent care and they'll be able to get what you need.

Wash your fingers after you play with your poop.

Oleoresin Capsicum on your fingers.  It won't clear up your eyes, but it'll keep you from rubbing them.

And goto urgent care.  They'll help you with the other stuff.

either one, the neomycin or the gentamycin 4 times a day should work until you see your eye doc. you may need to add steroid drops but go with the antibiotics first.

Thats pretty funny actually.  I have a pretty impressive collection of superhot sauces.  Im torn as to
whether I want the burn of "hot pepper eye" or the itch of F'n pink eye. I'm seriously toying with the
idea of seeding a habanero then rubbing my eye. At least it would take the itch away right?

I forgot to add, that I did not stay at a Holiday Inn last night but I did go to 4 years med school and 4 years ophthalmology training.

What the doc said.

Important to wash your hands frequently and keep family members from touching anything you use.

Especially wash cloths and bed linen.

Just rub some dirt on it.  That always works.

Warm (hot as you can stand) wet high content saline compresses for 15 min at a time wash with anti-bacterial soap, pat dry and repeat. Wash hands off frequently with rubbing alcohol.

Make saline by putting two tablespoons of table salt in two cups of hot water. The saline will help draw out the infection.

Get some good whiskey and/or beer and drink it. You are miserable, and stuck at home, might as well get drunk.

I had that shit, nothing worked except time.

doc in  a box.   Head there get good Rx's and stop on the way home for beer.   The next few days will suck.

The last time I had it I put the medicine in my eyes and walked into a door.   That was fun.

Pinkeye is like a jellyfish sting.   Youll need to pee on it in order to counteract the itching.  Works best if you eat asparagus first.

Someone farted on your pillow.  Find the culprit and get revenge.

(I had pink eye last year.  I just let it heal itself, and it was gone after a few days.  It looked and felt horrible in the mean time, though.)

Get the over the counter drops.

Also wash with anti-bacterial soap, then use some neo-sporin type ointment and apply.

It works.
