| Any question as to why there is increasing militarization of the police, that the military has decided that whenever civilian law enforcement cannot keep order, that it may intervene, that there is a clamp down on our civil rights including the Second Amendment? |

Are those people fucking high? My family was poor as fuck growing up, and I work two jobs to make sure my wife and son never have to experience that. Like I was fucking born making $60k a year, or something....? |

They're only talking about *cuts in the rate of growth* of the food stamp program.
Everyone is still gonna' get their ebt cards and everyone will still eat... There will be *no* riots in the streets over this. In the United States today, is anyone really starving? Like Africa starving? There's so much free food programs in this country even *without* food stamps. -Gator |

They should be asking ME, DIRECTLY, to PLEASE spare them some food. They should be pleading with those of us who work and buy our own groceries to help them and their families. The R's are going to be crucified in the media for decreasing the benefits. They will be accused of taking food out of poor starving childrens mouths.
SNAP or food stamps what ever they are called now, should be controlled not only on who is getting it but what is being bought. Have a list of food like WIC has on what you can buy. Sorry but if you are on food stamps you should NOT get steak and lobster. If you abuse the privilage of getting food stamps, selling them for .50 cents on the dollar, buying steak and lobster or then selling said steak and lobster, you are cut off of all .gov benefits period. as a matter of fact you get caught fucking over the system, you get cut off of all .gov benefits. |

| Yeah. Uh huh. According to the article the cost of "benefits" went from $35 billion to $80 billion from 2007 to 2012. And the cuts being discussed are $4.1 billion over 10 years. Yeah, that's really some draconian cut there folks. Thier cost of living increase will make up for it and then some. What a fucking joke, and at the taxpayer's expense as usual. |

I'd rather my tax dollars go to supporting food kitchens and community pantries and programs to help people become self-reliant than to just load up a card some lazy fuckbag can just spend indiscriminately at a 7-11. |

I still say that they should only be able to use EBT at county run stores that only sell whole foods. No steak, lobster, ect. Monthly drug testing for ALL people receiving benefits and the birth control shot on the first for all women on assistance. You can't feed the kids you have? Then you don't need more kids. Get a job.

You would get a set amount of approved food items you could get per month. No fucking steak or lobster. No spending cash. No way to get cash back. You take your list of foods to the register and swipe your card. The food item is marked as "acquired" on your account. That's what you get for the month, so make it last. Amounts of food and specific food items could be tailored for family needs, suck as allergies, lactose intolerance, etc, etc...but not vegetarianism. You want to pick and choose your food? Get a job and buy your own. There should also be limits to how long you can remain on the program. If you are able-bodied, you should have a year or two of benefits. During that year or two, you are either looking for work, or going to school/training for a job. You have to provide weekly proof in the form of a letter on company letterhead that you applied and interviewed for a job, or in the form of at least a C+ grade point average at your school/training. |
| Lets cut all the subsidies. The Farm Service Agency and the snap programs. I'm tired of being harassed by the government for trying to grow crops. NASS can call and I'll tell them nothing. No more USDA crop reports to fill out. No more fat urban dwellers telling me how to farm. No more subsided food for Americans to eat. Love to see that one. 7-9% of people's income goes to food lets kick that up to 15%. |

I drove by a United Methodist Church this past Wednesday and saw a long line in the parking lot of people standing around. As I got closer, I saw that they were giving out boxes of food. Nearly everyone had a car, but some borrowed a grocery cart from next door and were pushing their carts full of whatever groceries the church was passing out. |
