My 1911 would either be a shelf piece or a range shooter.

I will trust my life to something else.

I'm not a tier one specialist.
I'll count on my 1911 in a life/death situation though.

My 1911 is gone.  Never did trust it,even after putting all that work into it.

My go-to pistol is an old P220.

I carried a 1911 cause I am not 'professional enuff' to carry a 'G-lock fotay'.

The 1911's a good gun, you just need to know what the hell you're doing when you run one.  It requires upkeep, and some knowledge of more in depth armory level stuff than a Glock/M&P,etc.  Its not a weapon for the lazy, or undisciplined.

That is a little funny, I wonder if that's true about 1911's not getting through a class.

I have seen a lot fail in IDPA matches.  A class is going to use a lot more ammo than a match.

It is. I took several of Robs classes and the gun are run hard and very dirty. Last ICE class I took was in 2011 and I fired 1,300 rounds in 2 days. I have never seen a 1911 make it through in 6 classes over the years. I want to see if my Dan Wesson Valor could though. I've had almost 500 round through it without a malfunction. Rob told me to give it a shot.

Yeah, see, I take that as a challenge.  I've got a Colt Combat Elite that has never failed.  I've never run it 1000 rounds without cleaning though.

I clean mine when they are spitting enough grunge back on your glasses that it gets distracting.

A properly toleranced 1911 is very reliable. One that has been monkeyed with, or built too tight (read out of spec) is not as reliable. It's a fairly simple concept.

Well, I'm convinced.... cheap bastards with no motor skills should avoid 1911s.

Looks like if I took his coarse I'd get it for free!!! My 1911 never jams . It's also a colt ww1 reissue with lots of slop and keeps going no matter what . It's not the most accurate gun but its a fighting gun to be sure

that was funny, but as much as I like 1911's, I would trust my life to my P90 ruger over a 1911 any day. That damn boat anchor will eat any ammo you throw at it.

Most people have never seen a properly made 1911 style pistol, much less shot one.

Meh, I've never understood the hate some people have for specific guns or brands. However, I did get rid of an expensive "sub-compact" 1911 because of how often it malfunctioned. I like 1911s but the only time I spend with one now is at the range.

i see in every match I go to. IDPA, USPSA, carbine 2 gun matches. the guns just do not work with the reliablity of more modern designs.

My $400 RIA 1911 has been 100% reliable with good mags.  I've probably put over 3000 rounds through it in the past two years, ball, hp and swc.

theres a ton of hype w/ everything in the gun world.  In my view magpul stuff is awsome and I love it but its plastic women crap.  Ar's are awsome and I love mine but its a lot of plastic crap.  Same w/ sights etc. The Ak is totally cool and I love mine but its OLD as hell but tough as nails.  So far I love my 1911 but so old.  Dont even ask about glocks... oh my god what great guns but are those made by Rubbermaid or what!   The only true weapon i've been able to touch was an old civil war cannan..  now thats a damn man weapon w/ no "weight" or "comfort" or "reliability" or "tactical" gigs b.s.   ...just all man weapon!
