Here's what ARFCOM does to the link when I use the video button below the edit window (brackets removed)
flash width=' 425' height=' 350' src='https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RjTj0ymhbBw' Remove the http:// and the spaces in the width and height, and ARFCOM adds it back upon submitting. I didn't break the video. I didn't post it wrong.

(if I'm within 3KM of the house and connected to my home WiFi, Screw your android. What set-up are you using to get a 3km range on your wi-fi? NM...... RIF, if I'm within 3km of the house (one condition) and connected to my WiFi (second condition). They are separate things. Of course, I can't be connected to my WiFi and NOT be within 3km of the house, but I can be within 3km of the house and not be connected to my WiFi. Tasker is an "if this then that" type thing. When I get within 3km of the house, one condition is met, and a variable is set. Tasker runs tasks based on that condition changing to true, or changing to false. Then when I get to my house and WiFi connects to my home network, that is another condition that is met, and a variable is set. Tasker runs tasks based on that condition changing to true, or changing to false. |

You're using the wrong link. All that player blah blah embedded blah blah is what gives you the white box. Just copy and paste the share link for the video.
Fucking arfcom. Geezus. Push video button, paste link into line. It's that easy. Takes a computer to fuck it up. this link: http://youtu.be/RjTj0ymhbBw Good thing I work on servers, NOT on code! |

Never said my WiFi works to 3km, but my phone knows if I'm within 3KM of home. GPS does that. You said if you're within 3km of your house and connected to your home wifi. So can you be 2.9999km from your house and connected to your home wifi? ETA explained while I was typing |

LOLz. Learn how to post a video without clicking the video button. I'll note that my iPhone does that just fine, every time. I've posted exactly 1 video this year. Why the fucking video button adds http to a link that already dictates the protocol is beyond me. OP intent still stands. Try to get your iPhone to turn on your lights by telling it to. I dare ya! |

I just threw my cordless phone at the light switch and the lights came on. You argument is invalid |

I could yell at my phone, your phone, or any phone, and my lights wouldn't turn on or off. That requires I flip a switch. Guess I'm old-fashioned, with my switch-flipping and all. Kids these days, talking to their phones to turn the lights on and off. |

Basically I want the AC or heat to turn on when I get close to home, but before I'm actually IN my home. So the phone knows when I get within 3km (used to have it at 7km, and will probably revert to that for summer) and then sets the thermostat, but doesn't turn on lights (if it's dark outside). At that range, Tasker also turns on WiFi. Then when I get to my house and the WiFi connects to my home network (usually when I'm in the driveway or in the garage), Tasker turns on the lights if its dark. That's just an example of what I can do with it. It works quite well, and it's pretty amazing. Now that I can set it up to respond to voice commands, I'll probably expand what it can do. I'm not sure I want to have to talk to my phone to do it, but it's pretty damn cool that I can if I want to. |

Which app did you use to control you lights when you paused the movie? Or set them to linked. What Zwave modules are you using? That's actually not me in the video. I don't know who it is, but I saw it posted on G+. Here's what the guy says he used: Less than $300 in Home Automation equipment used in this demo. 1 controller, 4 Z-wave modules.
Software: Tasker AutoVoice AutoRemote AuHomationHD Yatse XBMC Netflix YouTube I use Insteon HA stuff, with an ISY99i controller. The ISY99i has an API that I make calls to from my phone using Tasker issuing wget commands. Had to find a wget binary that would take the --password argument, because the one BusyBox had built-in didn't. The curl command was also somehow limited, I just can't remember exactly how. |

I'll just go out on a limb and say that was fuckin awesome. Reminds me of the Big Bang episode where they turn on the radio by sending a signal around the world. But yours was better!
And yes, iPhones suck ass. You should have made the video flash so the iPhags couldn't watch it! Posted from my ipad |

You're right. My iPhone doesn't post white boxes. Goddamn video button keeps adding "http" in front of my link, which already has "https". ARFCOM is fucking it up, not me! HOLY HELL.... you just personified irony. Well played, sir. Well, anybody that works in technology knows that a 'computer person' doesn't necessarily know everything about them, all sites, all coding languages, OSs, software and all that shit. One can be an absolute genius in areas of computers... but a complete noob in others. I did the noob thing, clicked the video button, pasted the link (even the share link as noted above) and the site still fucks up the code. It's also not worth it to quote someone else, because the code changes when you quote. Meh. Doesn't change that Android kicks iOS's ass in customization and cool shit you can do with it. |

Wtf? I can talk to my dumb phone and accomplish the same tasks. That's what having a properly trained girlfriend is all about. She also gets me beer and food. Well, I don't have one of those... renting one is too gorram expensive long term. My HA setup is much cheaper in the long run anyway. Besides, I don't have to listen to my HA's bullshit, or put up with it using all of my toilet paper, or pull hair out of the drain, or..... (you get the picture!) |

What does pwn mean??? I see this all the time. My friend Google tells me it's a slang term for the word own, but is that really all there is to it or is it an acronym for something? I'm 22 and feel relatively up to date with the ways of younger generation these days, but I don't understand pwn. Do people just use it to replace "own", even though it's not a shortened version?
Sorry for the momentary hijack. |

I'll get right on that. Please come back in a few minutes and let me know, with multiple posts, how you are still disinterested and displeased with the subject should the moderators not address your request in a timely manner! You should still, though, peruse every topic in GD just to be sure. You never know when something you have no interest in will be posted if you don't go into every thread and comment! |
