Anyone on here into disc golfing? (frolfing to some) Got out for the first time this year yesterday and did surprisingly well for my first outing of the year. Luckily we have a relatively nice 18 hole in the town I go to college at, and one at home too. For those of you that do disc, what're your go to discs? Every get a hole in one? Still chasing my first hole in one but it'll happen one day! My go to discs are a Champion Ape or my Champion Valkyrie (first disc I ever bought (8 years ago) and still haven't managed to lose it!).
ETA: Also how many discs do you guys have? I've bought 2 discs in my life (and a putter), and found dozens more. Currently I have ~15 in my car, and normally bring 5 or 6 on a round. |

A co-worker convinced me to try it a couple years ago.
Was surprised by how many courses there were in the area. Never noticed them before. Was surprised how far I could throw a disc in that weird "opposite" way you throw them compared to regular Frisbees. Fun, but I have enough hobbies. Glad I tried it once though. |

My son and I like to take our dogs and scare off the hippies. Hahaha I like taking the dog out discing too! Any excuse to get outdoors. There was a couple walking a beagle yesterday and every time anyone would throw a disc the dog would perk up and try to go after it...Poor little dog! |

I am an addict. Been playing religiously for about 15 years now. Great exercise (here on steep Montana courses at least), fun, and FREE. I've gotten in about 20 rounds so far this season.
Innova Orc and Destroyer for my main drivers. Amazingly, I have never 1 holed a basket yet (have hit the basket many times on first throw). Have 1 holed posts and other obstacles a few times. |
| A group of us try to play every Friday........I love it. I have 3 aces (hole in one). My go to discs are a star Vulcan, Z plastic first run Nuke, z plastic Buzzz. I find it to be the most relaxing stress free sport I have ever played even more than ball golf( I get too pissed off at ball golf). |

Started playing back in the 80's, have my own 9 hole course now. Never had a hole in one. Go to disk, old Discraft XL I've used for 10 years. 3 rounds in so far this year, plan on a few tomorrow if my shoulder holds up. Do you have portable holes? Or are yours cemented in at your personal course? Some of the courses around here have baskets that they move around a few times a year. I'd love to see some pics of what you've created for yourself! |

I picked up some portables a few years ago from Fleet Farm for like $80 each. Only prob we've had with them is I need to add an inner ring of chains to them, too many discs going thru. |

How much land is your 9 hole based on? There are a few 9 holes around here but I can't say any of them are near the quality of the 18's. The 9 holes normally seem more cramped to me. |

Well I'm on 3 acres hence only the 9. Mine is an accuracy course. Normally just one group on it at a time so it dosen't feel cramped. Now I may pick up some more baskets yet so I can expand out into the gravel pit behind me for 18 ETA: Based on the feedback I get from visitors I did OK with what I had to work with |

Gets a little annoying having to wait for groups of people on the course at times! |

Gets a little annoying having to wait for groups of people on the course at times! Exactly why I did it. It's not like there's any lack of courses between the Twin Cities and St. Cloud. Plus nice to not have to drive to go play AND vs. a public course in a park we can drink any damn thing we please while playing. |
| I played pretty frequently for years but probably haven't played in almost a year. I used to carry a mix of Innova & Discraft. Put with a Challenger, Buzzz, Wasp, Roc for mid, and tried too many drivers to remember them all. I miss it a little and I'm sure I'll get back at it. |

I didn't realize you were in the cities, I get up there a few times a year. I'm going up there in July for a concert, any good courses my lady and I should check out when we're there? I heard there was a really nice 27 hole north of the cities, but I believe that was a private one. |

Probably do better if you are stoned like most of the other disk golfers. Worst. Stereotype. Ever. ![]() Not altogether inaccurate from my experience. Long ago I enjoyed disc golf and weed...as did every other disc golfer I knew and most I encountered. |

I have not played frisbee golf since a year after I left college. The disks used for Ultimate Frisbee make good putters. Quoted:

Used to play when I lived next to one, gave my discs(about 10) to a friend when I moved away.
Never had a hole-in-one, but I did bounce off the chains a couple times. I can't believe you're playing with the same disc for that long... they fly worse and worse with age. |

There were times were I wouldn't use it for a long period of time, but I always come back to that disc. |

I always thought it was a game reserved for middle school gym class. It seems like a lot of the users on AR15.com are attracted to hobbies that attract young boys and girls. Disc golf, RC cars, computer and console gaming, etc. ![]() http://www.dgcoursereview.com/ is a good place to find some local courses. |

Ever get hit with one? I got hit in the sternum at a course in Utah where it doubles back on itself. It was a Valkyrie(IIRC) off of someone's long drive. Hurt like a mother. I haven't, but my friend missed getting hit in the head by less than a foot today. It was the closest I've seen anyone come to getting hit HARD. |

Lol, I'd get mad at my discs way too quickly, it almost seemed like after a single round they would start to turnover too easily. |

Too many these days and I've only played mine, the local course in Annandale, and a few up in St. Cloud lately to give any advice. The guys that come to play at my place get out and about more, I'll check with them. |
