Get the LD app.  You can make LD calls without going through Spring, MCI or even AT&T.

If you read epub format e-books, FBReader.
If you need notes/lists, AKNotepad.

If anyone knows better things for this that need lower permissions, please let me know.

Dropbox or similar storage that can easily sync with your computer at home
airdroid
a flashlight app (that stuff comes in handy all the time, and your phone is always in your pocket when it's dark out)

Subscribed- I am a new Android user, too.

So far I have added Weather Underground, TrackID, Google Sky Map, Amazon and Scan QR.

What's the preferred music player?  I am currently using PlayerPro and it seems decent, but my trial is almost over.

The first thing mentioned to me when I did a presentation on mobile devices was to get yourself some sort of virus protection.
95% of the malware written for phones last year was targeted at Androids.

If you are a motorcyclist, then I recommend the Rainy Days app.  Nothing but weather radar.

For campfires, Google Sky.  Constellation maps.

Brightest Flashlight or Flashlight for a flashlight app.

Hillclimb for a simple car game.
