| I am a college student living in a college dorm about 60 miles away from my home and I am visiting for the weekend. My mother has a neighbor who has just moved in. He has no job, and we think hes is dealing and using drugs because he ocassionally had late night visitors. Anyway, He has a loud sterio system and a bass guitar that he likes to play late at night, usually starts at 10 PM and ends at 8 or 9 AM. My mom is a high school teacher and has to get up early and this has been causeing her to lose sleep for some time now, finally the other night she had had enough and called the police on him. The local officer (we live in a small town with only one local cop) came over and talked to him. After the officer left he started playing again, so she called the police again, after which the neighbor must of been called because he stopped untill about 7 in the morning. Today (which is the morning after) My mother and I were walking out to here car to go out for lunch and we saw the neighbor outside. He was very angry and very erractic, often stuttering and stubbling. He yelled at my mother and I and outright threatened her. He retreated to his house when I stepped between them (Im not a big guy, but he was smaller then me). My mother isnt really afraid (she been through worse), we just dont know what to do next. She has been told by the local officer to report things like this, which she will do soon. But what if this happens again? What would you do? Thanks. |
| Call the cops and file a harrassment or assault complaint. He's a fucking nut case, maybe you should also contact your local office of mental health services. If he threatened my family, the threat would be neutralized shortly after the last word came out of his mouth. And it would be his last word. |

Your mom, of course, should be frightened by his threats, and she should make sure the police know she takes his threats seriously. Sometimes that makes a difference in how the 'system' reacts. Keep a written journal with date/time and brief description of the happenings every time you call the police to report him or every time he hollers or makes threats toward you or your mother. Start carrying a small tape recorder and when if you see him outside start recording and see if you can catch threats on tape; nothing like a recording to settle the he said/you said arguments. If you get a couple of threats on tape make a visit to the police chief and play them for him (her?) - if the officers you have dealt with up until then have done their job make SURE he knows it. |

The Officer "probably" stated that, so and so (you guys) at that house over there (pointing) called, and have been complaining about the loud music, late night guests and etc. This is a CS approach to a problem if this is the way it went down. IMO. I hope it gets straightened out. MM419 |

Well first off, is he a democrat? You don't want him to try the racial issue, becuase you could end up in a lot of trouble if he attacks you or your mom and you call him a name or defend yourself outside of your home. This is a multiply proven fact. If he isn't a democrat, then you may be able to deal with it in a strightforward manner. You have already started down the right path in calling the law. Start a paper trail on this asshole. Call the cops frequently. Get a magistrate to issue a peace bond after 5 or 6 tries at calling the cops, then get him evicted. If he gets physical go to the hospital, even for a scratch, and file a police report and have him arrested. Too bad we live in such litigious and chickenshit times. There was a time when folks didn't seem so predisposed to hassle one another and gave a little courtesy because retribution was a very real possibility. Now we have to jump through all these legal hoops to protect our butts. See if the landlord will kick him out, again, beware. If he is a democrat your landlord may be reticient to act. Get video if possible. When going to his door get video. Have something to show the judge. Other bad, but infinitely more satisfying, solutions- 1. Break his windows. He won't suspect the school teacher next door. 2. Kill his pets. Not a nice thing to do, and never tell anyone lest you be shunned forever. 3. Put a sign in your yard saying Adrug dealer lives here with an arrow towards his door. This only works on real drug dealers. Expect Retribution for this if he is a democrat, a drug dealer, nuts, or a combination of the above. There is also the potential for lawsuit here againt you. 4.Superglue in his car locks and front door. 5.Dead fish in his car. 6.Crap on his doorstep. 7.1000 BBs in his carbuerator. 8.Remove the valvestems from his rims. 9. Spray paint unwholesome things on his car. I think the legal route would be most beneficial to you and safer. Good luck. |

Keep calling the police. Get video footage. That's about it legally. Patience and persistence with the 5.0 will prevail. Otherwise, yeah, f*ck his world up. Sounds like the Bass and Stereo might be the issue. 'Fix' those for him. Hit him with a heavy bat. That technique usually works pretty good. |

Code enforcement. My mom had some derelicts renting the house next door to her, and the cops couldn't/wouldn't do shiite to help her. She tried everything, and then one day she called code enforcement about noise regulations or some other thing, and what do you know? Code enforcement sent inspectors around and came down on those derelicts like a ton of bricks. Either that or get yourself a two foot section of 1/2 inch rebar and break the scumbag's legs. |
| Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have just showed her how to load and fire the AR, but I hope it doest come to that. She grew up on a farm, and can shoot pretty well. Just kind of a SHTF thing. She has called the police, and I advised her to keep a journal. I liked the tape recorder thing too. Again thanks. |

Enough with the conspiracy to commit crimes against some stupid noisy neighbor. It would seem that you are sharing knowledge to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act. Not too good to be doing in public... I think the tread has run it's course. |

A neighbor of mine recently bought a outdoor security camera setup(4-Cameras) to mount on the outside his house. Not too expensive, from Radio Shack. Hooks to a vcr so it can be recorded. Also has speakers and a built in mic(sp?) to hear what is said outside. Maybe something to help keep the neighbors at a distance.... fullclip |

Get two guys in a Crown Vic (works best if it is a white guy and a black guy) wearing shirts/tie no jackets to drive up and photograph him and his residence with a 35mm camera. Totally legal, and has been known to work wonders. Or just call TIPS tell them you THINK he MAY be dealing drugs (which is true). ATF has killed people for less. Report him as a suspected terrorist. You're SURE you saw bomb making materials in his garage and you've seen him being visited by people of Middle Eastern descent. Other dastardly deeds: Get his phone number. Visit seedy joints all over town and write this on the wall: "For great head, call ***-**** and ask for (name). He's the best!" Of course, that's VERY good in gay bars. Also, in the same seedy joints (and other places where drug users hang out) post his phone number and first name to the walls and write "(name) has what you want." Sit back, relax, and watch the fun. A few well-placed complaints about the crack house next door can be useful, too. Does he ever leave a window open? If so, locate a wasp's nest (or a hornet's nest), clothe yourself in heavy clothing from head to toe, leaving no entrances that bugs can crawl through, harvest the nest, and throw it through the open window. Fun for DAYS! Does he have a fenced in yard, with the fence in good condition? If so, get the meanest, man-eating-est dog you can possibly find (from the pound, perhaps) and put the dog in his yard. If he at least maintains his yard on a regular basis, you can have a LOT of fun by throwing several handfuls of weed seeds into his yard. Or you could spray Roundup (or whatever kills grass effectively) on his yard in patches, too. The possibilities are limitless. Revenge is a dish that is best served not cold, but with a claymore mine inside the cake. CJ |

these are great fun. anybody remember the "hypothetically speaking" post with the guy complaining about some punks driving through the neighborhood with the radio cranked to the max? "hypothetically speaking, if i...." i think of that everytime now when i hear/see a riceburner drive by with the bass booming and the sqirrel-farting exhaust buzzing by. |
