| So today in the Daily News they weren't holding a picture of an AR. It was a Remington 700 bolt action. They still say it's .223 but aren't 700's all .308? They also still say it was a semi-auto AR15....and these guys might be headed South. |

They make a PSS in .223 I believe. It's just so funny that they are spending so much time talking about the weapon. It is like telling everyone to be on the lookout for a Toyota Camry. There are so many out there to make that the focus of your search is pointless. With so many people shot in public places it is amazing that there aren't more witnesses to give a description that might actually be useful. |

Whenever you are personally involved with an event or issue the media covers, you learn they always get things wrong. I've talked with other people who have first hand experience with media coverage, the reporters always make mistakes, not just little details. From misspelling peoples' names and businesses, all the way to not even understanding the basic issue at hand. So when you realize this, you can infer that nearly every single article on the local news or paper is seriously incorrect in one way or another, but unless you're personally involved, you cant be sure what it is. |

I beg to differ... On FOX its was the head fed FBI surrounded by ATF that made the inferences...brandishing an AR15 overhead and leading the audience to believe that they had "a match" ..when IN FACT they had nothing (by their own admission today) The murders of innocent citizens were used (imo) as an anti AR15 (assault rifle) podium... The claims made about the nature of the round (223) were patently false..and the rounds brought in by the feds were a hodgepodge of 22cal up to what looked like 50cal BMG... the buzzwords used to condition the sheep were bandied about ...and again the conclusion drawn had nothing to do with the evidence (or lackthereof) they had discovered... I understand the press and hyperbole...its yellow journalism and what they do... But to hear it from the feds...as opportunistic propagandizing that denegraded veterans gun owners hunters sportsman ....and laid the ineundo... blaming the gun... and not the terrorists that did this..and this was an act of terror...whether by white supremacists..or african american muslims..or arab muslims or mexcians of the Back to Aztalan movement or a Columbian drug cartel ...its still terrorism... They could have killed a greater number using a hijacked commercial air liner.. & They did! Yet the opportunity to wave an AR15 about and then strongly infer that this was the weapon....was wrong...and had nothing to do with the incidents..and had everything to do with the anti gun hysterics we saw under the Clinton Administration.. After OK City...we saw the feds target white militia groups..while ignoring the Islamic extremists among us... leading to the events of 9-11 This PC crap has gotta end...and they gotta go after the real bad guys and not the heart and soul of america...because white people are easy marks...they dont riot when they are targeted..IMO |

9DIVDOC, Very well said. We are dealing with sick minds when it comes to violent crimes and terrorism. I find it amazing that people can be so blind to the fact that our own justice system is partially to blame. How many times have we seen murderers, child molesters (the worst IMO), rapist and countless other criminals sneak through our judicial system relatively unscathed? I firmly believe if the punishment fit the crime less crime would be committed. Unfortunately our society, as a whole have become a bunch of soft, whining, greedy, armchair politicians who will fulfill their right to voice their opinion on everything except the responsibility for their own actions. |

Truer words have rarely been spoken. Personally, I've decided there are two levels to enlightenment with regard to the media. The first is what you have stated - that you must assume EVERY story is off in some way (but isn't it scary how much of our beliefs of things are based on such stories?). The second is that too often this distortion is INTENTIONAL and is engrained in the culture. I knew some journalism majors back when I was in college who discovered this mentality in their departments. Accuracy and accountability were not weighted anywhere near as high as the story itself - to the point where editors will rewrite storied to make them sound better - with no input from the actual reporter! That was par for the course, and a common and accepted practice. Adam |

Just has long that he listens to you and understands what this is all about. The only winner has to be his feelings towards God and not turn away from true beliefs. |

I have a question. Why in these uncertain times(possible SHTF in the US) would the gov.thugs want to disarm it's citizens of the weapons that could HELP? Seems to me that they would WANT us to be armed. (and a lot of us ARE!) With US troops stationed all around the world, and talk of going back to oust Saddam, isn't our military getting stretched a little thin? Just a thought................. AB |

The 2nd amendment is also about protection from the government. Every politician is at risk because the 2nd amendment prevents them from usurping power. |

The LAST thing the government wants is for the people to figure out that they have the ultimate power when it comes to determining the course this nation takes. They have spent decades eroding the Constitution and the rights of the people. The pol's greatest fear is that the sheep will awaken before they've disarmed them and made them totally dependant on .gov to survive. "Allowing" common citizens to openly arm and protect themselves in this situation would completly destroy the illusion that the gov can take care of you. Hey, I'm 45 and always thought I was a pretty smart guy. I didn't wake up and and pull my head out of my ass about all this until after the 9/11 attacks. It was my search on what I needed to do to purchase a firearm that splashed ice water down my back as to how far in the toilet the politicians and socialists have driven this nation. The shootings can be a good thing if we use it as a wake-up call to all those people who are unaware (as I was) or simply fence-sitting, as to how far this country has fallen from those original ideals of liberty, freedom and personal responsibilty. edited to add: Don't mean to imply that killing innocent people is a good thing, just an "every cloud has a silver lining" thought. |
