It's been quite a while since I have seen the original.  I don't remember the story/premise even being remotely close to what I just watched.  I really liked it despite what a turd Jamie Foxx is in real life, but I really don't understand why it is not just named something else.  It just makes no sense to me it being a totally different story.

They just stole the name for a shitty cowboy movie. The original Django was awesome.

The director of the original was in the movie, so he apparently had no problem with it having the same name.

Movie titles are different, unlike band names, you can use the same name more than once without having to pay the original "owner" of the name.

I watched it tonight despite what Arfcom told me and almost started a thread. I thought it was quite entertaining, but then again, I like Tarentino flicks.

Blaxploitation movie is blaxploitational.

And just because it's an "homage" doesn't mean it's any good.

Oh boy, now I've done it. Arrows incoming. Raise buttshields. Racism is afoot. Call your congressmen.

Me too, but I haven't finished a movie in a year, can't get into them anymore.

ETA: reread OP. I'm on the same page as how the fuck they made a movie with the same name that is so far from the original.

it was not related to the "original."  it was not a sequel or prequel or anything of that nature.  Totally unrelated films

I meant in general, captain america, avengers, promethius, batman with bane. I just stopped renting flicks altogether. Boring as shit, and i used to love movies.

Stick around long enough and you'll see that most of the GD mouth breathers are incapable of independent or abstract thought.

There have been alot of Django films.  Only two with the original Franco NERO.

Django and Django Strikes Again.  Get the two boxed movie set. It comes with exclusive interwiews.  The "other Django movies" were done to jump on the Django band wagon.  Tarentino knows that and was probably just playing with us.

Aloha, Mark

I watched Django last night and found it quite entertaining.  I love Tarantino's explicit use of over the top violence and Django took it way voer the top!
