I've started cruising ebay, gun broker and the EE for gun stuff, particularly used optics and other rifle accessories that are commonly issued to the military. Much of it is advertised as military surplus, some of it is not but the gear definitely looks like it was used in combat or thrown down the driveway. My question is, are these items actually being sold by the government in the surplus market, or are most of these items stolen? I have heard tales of folks stealing their issued optics before. I'd like to steer clear of buying stolen stuff. |

Too many bad stories for me to fuck with it. ![]() eta: And no, I'm not aware of the Gov't selling optics. |

A lot of these items are shit that soldiers had to supply themselves. A lot of soldiers had to get their own weapons lights and optics...or so I've been told. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile "Had to buy"? Not really, perhaps on the lights but even then most low budget units still get lights if the men need it. Same goes for optics, if you need an optic you will get one. So generally speaking avoid that gear on eBay. Once owned by the gov, always owned by the gov. |
