Hi Guys:

A while back I was asking if its legal to ship guns to myself for a class out of state.  Turns out that is legal and saves a lot of trouble at the airports.

However, there is a small practical problem.  No carrier will ship the guns.  As the DHL rep said: "We don't do that; espeically post 9-11."  I've tried UPS, FedEx, Airborne and DHL.

I'd like to ship both pistols and rifles to myself at the school.

Which carrier (if any) will do it?

Its been suggested that I just forget to declare the contents.  My shipping guys tell me that surveillance is substantially stepped up post 9/11 and that the carriers would void the insurance in case of loss.  (I really don't want to be walking up the pick up the guns either at the class or back home and start thinking "Wonder why there's all of these TV crews and SWAT officers around?  Must be some big bust going down.")

I suppose I could take it to an FFL (if I can still find one in Westchester Co. NY).  Anyone know of a decent one?  How much would that add to the cost?

Thank you very much guys.

The UPS/Federal Express lackeys are full of shit. Post 9-11 has nothing to do with it. Get a manager out there, muy pronto. I myself prefer the Postal Service, however, non-FFL holders may not ship handguns (through the Postal Service).
