I've noticed a lot of so-called duplicate threads being locked. Often the only way to avoid this is to look through 4 or 5 pages of posts to insure what you are about to post doesn't duplicate what someone else has already posted. Now, if I had to do this every time I posted something, I'd never post. Clearly, we need a mechanism whereby we can submit a proposed thread title, and perhaps a brief synopsis of the thread content, and get the topic approved for posting. Thus, I say we need a Topic Commissar (preferably of Eastern European descent and who smokes). Some additional ideas, just tossed out for consideration: (1) Charge for the service, call it a "Topic Approval Tax" if you will. (2) Provide a "Pre-Approved Thread Topic List" (3) Start a forum where people can buy/sell/trade thread topics that they own. (4) Make the Topic Commissar position an elected one, and encourage popup election ads, political fund raising, gaft, corruption, and all the other accouterments of real politics. (5) Allow an unlimited number of duplicate topics about Ann Coulter to be posted. [rolleyes] |
