Anyone ever done this? I need to keep my kids from using up all my paper and ink so when I need to print something I can.

Give them their own username on the PC with a user account type. Password your admin account. They won't be able to add the printer. Turn off printer sharing.

laser printer resolves ink issue. and maybe just buy more paper? maybe like 5-10 reams.

 
















you wont run out for awhile.







they are kids, they need to print stuff too ya know and rely on your resources to do so. don't be a print nazi

In a similar way I  have one wifi network for trusted devices (my stuff, wife's stuff, printer, etc) and a guest network for everyone/everything else.

They do it from their ipods.

Get a wireless router that allows you to setup two networks, a home and a guest network, only allow their ipods access to the guest network.

The printer has it's own wireless hook up - HP 8600
