Years ago (1980's) there was a bar in south KC named Montana Wildhack's Saloon!
Most folks had no idea who it was named after! If you haven't read the book Montana Wildhack was a porn star that aliens hook the main character up with on another planet. She was played by a young Valerie Perrine in the movie! Read the book. LOL |

I have read the book several times and honestly never knew there was a film adaptation. Unfortunately the books I like seldom translate into satisfactory movies. A Clockwork Orange Fahrenheit 451 Good examples of what I mean. This one isn't too bad. I would suggest watching. |

LOL Played quite hottly, I might add. Of the early-70s sub-genre 'absurdity of war' flicks, I'd rank Catch 22 as better. Slaughterhouse Five deserves props for Valerie Perrine's nudity though. |

I haven't read Slaughterhouse Five in 15 years, but I just read Catch-22 last year. Hilarious. |

Watched the film for a literature class while in high school. I seriously doubt more than 10% of the class understood it. me too..... also took a Vonnegut course in college...

He wrote about the firebombing of Dresden in nearly every one of his works. His experience there as a POW really put the zap on him, and rightfully so.
My favorite work of his is Bluebeard, a fictional narrative of a modern artist whose works are all deteriorating because of the defective paint he was using. You have to wait to the end of the book to see what's in his potato barn though. |
