I'm currently unemployed, so instead of getting another job I'm thinking about starting my own business.
While I was working at my last job, I have developed tiny RFID chips that can be tracked anywhere in the world. This ships can be implemented in any part of the gun ( The size of grain of rice) . I also developed an app that you can use on your smart phone to track the chip. My business idea is selling a security package includes RFID Ships ( 100% WATER and heat proof ) Passive no battery needed perimeter reader ( If some one take any of the guns that carry the ships outside of your house the system sends you a text or call the police with a prerecorded message ) App (Portal) for your smart phone Software tells you the history of the RFID Locations I have those chips in all of my guns and accessories. I lost my sunglasses once at a store (Had rfid chip) and it took me only 10 minutes on my I-Phone to find the person who took it, They left the store with it. Should I take a job offer in AZ for a fixed guaranteed salary or take my chances and start my own business ? I can't live on $570/week unemployment for ever |

The most powerful active (i.e. with battery) RFID chips only work within 300 feet of a FIXED (i.e. LARGE) interrogator. BS. |

While you're at this, I suggest you buy equipment to laser etch serial numbers on bullets, cartridge cases, and primer cups. Plus, if you're sharp, you'll perfect the use of those chips as taggants in gunpowder, hell, we might as well go buy our own chains, at least they'll be new.
Freakin' trollin' 13'ers anyway. Annoying. By the way, marine83's Want to Buy ads in the EE don't look like someone that's scraping buy. |

Hi there, I'm an electronics guy who works with just this kind of thing. Exactly how are you going to track with GPS and interrogate something with an antenna smaller than a grain of rice with no active power source from more than a few tens of feet? If you'd be so kind, tell me how many watts it would take to activate the RFID, much less have it xmit it's location to a cell network. Cute idea though. Did you come from DU? |

I'm on the mechanical side, but I've picked up enough from the EEs to be confident in my answer, and totally agree. |

Quoted: Wow, small enough and cheap enough to fit on sunglasses? You're telling me that technology like this exists and we lose packages, mail, and pets, right? The science behind this is about as well thought out as Feinstein's heat-seeking bullets. Why don't you get with her and see if you can combine the two into trackable-heat-seeking-bullets that call the police themselves every time they're fired? You guys could finally make this! http://www.studiocreations.com/images/ebayimages/zf-1_side.jpg Now I want to implant everyone with RFID, just so I can make little 20mm HEDP RFID tracking rounds. |

I implemented RFID for the Marine Corps in their Arms Rooms for accountability, issuance and return 10+ years ago. Its a far more harsh environment than you seem to think. How are you planning to mount the tag on a wide range of firearms? You seem to be assuming that your chosen RFID tag (FYI - its not a "ship" ) will survive thousands of rounds of recoil from firing, solvents, shearing force, etc etc etc. That is a HUGE assumption.Send me $5,000. and I'll save you ten times that by telling you where your clever plan will fail - leaving you liable to claims from your "customers". How did you choose the tag class for your application? |

I designed an RFID chip the size of a grain of rice once, too.
Then, I was on my way to a convention where I was gonna demo it and give away samples, but then some chinaman stole them and made Fried Rice with it. Then he ate it, and later I tracked his poop through the local sewage system via my smartphones. |

I did a simple search on the entire site for his threads more than 24 hours old. |
