Anyone have any luck with a secondary offset optic on a AR or Bolt gun platform. I'm looking to use some sort of red dot as a secondary to my long range optic for close engagements. Also will help with eye relief when using a gas mask for SWAT stuff. Any pics or advice would be helpful. Thanks

That looks like a magnifier that isn't flipped up in front of the optic, not a secondary off-set optic and he's using it like a monocular without flipping it up.

OP, offset red dots are gaining popularity for what you're looking to do. I've been seeing some MARSOC pics with ACOGs and offset T-1s lately too.

Have used offset irons and optics in 3-gun.  It is a killer set up.

Back when I had that set up, it was brand new and folks were using a purpose built JP set of iron sights on the handguard of the weapon.  It was a one piece unit that used a screw in AR type front sight post and a 1911 rear sight pushed into a dovetail.  It had a sight radius of about 5''.  You'd put a short rail on the handguard at the 45 degree.  It worked.

I've seen guys now with separate purpose built 45 degree irons.  One mounts behind/under the optic on the receiver, the other on the front of the forearm off the top rail (canted 45 degrees).  Don't know who is making those but I'm sure you could find it on any 3-gun retailers website.
