| I just got a quad rail and thinking of getting some Magpul XTM panels. What say the hive? Fo, or something better? |

The XTM is a good choice for durability, but it's a bit heavier than the Magpul XT.
With rail covers, you're always balancing weight vs. durability. KAC, Magpul XTM, and Tango Down rail panels are tough, protect your hand, and last forever... but they are all about the same weight. The Magpul XT is lightweight, but does wear out if you keep moving em around |

From the pics, they seem a little bland, and bulky like the KAC. Are they? |

I think their newer rail covers are actually proprietary to their new rail system, bit could be wrong. They have a nice "goofball" texture though! |
| I prefer ladders or kac rail covers or a combo of both. All depends on the width of the rail. If its too wide, pretty much any rail panel will make it cumbersome. I have an xtm handstop kit. Pretty good design, but if you ever want to pull the panels you'll be at it for a while. They are not easy to get apart. |

I have a combination of XTM and ladder covers on my gun. The ladder covers are surprisingly nice. Obviously very slim, and also quite grippy. They do a good job of eliminating the sharp edges - which is really important to me. A lot of people seem to agree with you. I'm not big on the edges either. |

Went back to the index clips and am sticking with them. The ladder style just filled the gaps and left the sharp edges. Plus I'm a whore for most things LaRue. |

I can't tell from the description, but $30 isn't bad, if its for 3 covers. It doesn't seem to specify on the quantity though. |

How many clips does it take to fill up one carbine length rail? I think 60-70 in order to cover a carbine length hand guard which is how many comes in the package from Larue. |

How many clips does it take to fill up one carbine length rail? i'd have to count them but i bought the carbine rail kit and have a lot left over after adding my afg and IR laser. basically 1 clip = 1 notch on the rail. so how ever many notches you have is the number of clips. not the best pics but here you go...
