| I am looking to get some more boresnakes, are the .223 ones good for rimfire, or is there "rimfire" specific snakes I need to look for? |

a bit of warning.
i had a 308 boresnake worked great. no issue. first boresnake. then i had a custom 260 built, so i ordered a 260 boresnake. got the thing partially in and almost ever got it out. once the snake gets in its almost impossible to pull it back out, you are committed. i think i could have attached my car to the snake and put the rifle in a heavy duty vice and the snake would have never come out the front. i eventually got it out the back. i ordered a 243 snake for my 260 and the effort to pull it through was about the same as the 308 so it does its job. google boresnake stuck for some scary stories. ETA. i use the snake at the end of a shooting session and do a full clean periodically. snake is only an end of day, knock the residue out tool. |

I still gotta try these bore snakes mainly out of curiosity. I use dewey rod or a otis cable, both work satisfactory. Anyone who's tried all 3, is the bore snake all that much better? I have used all 3 I like the bore snake for quick cleanings, Dewey rod for detailed. Never liked the Otis. The snake is fast and easy just pull it down a few times and done. |
