Do you have lights in your safe, If so what kind, Battery power or did you drill a hole for a cord? I am think about these, and then mount the switch on the inside of the door.Puck lights

| My safe was pre-wired with an outlet, but I wouldn't recommend drilling your safe. You might try these. I have these in my closets and they're really nice. Good bright light, motion activated, good battery life. |
| I tried a few different lighting ideas before settling on a string of LED rope lights running all the way around the inside flange area of the door with a jamb switch that is contacted by the lower bolt on back of door. Gives off really nice even lighting to every nook of the interior of the safe. |

I ran a power cord through the pre-drilled hole, installed a switch, and wired it to a couple of strings of Xmas lights that I attached around the door, and the ceiling of the safe (the ones in a long flexible rubber tube-like thingy).
I works REALLY well (except that a section of one string died - I'll replace it eventually)

I use the Harbor Freight Magnetic Worklight in my safes.... They have a magnet on the back that is strong enough to work through carpet or padding.....put three or four in each safe, and one outside above the lock.... |
|
I have these in my safe. They are motion detect and run on 3 AA batteries.

Here's your shopping list.... Install plug. Amazon has to for 39.95, I got mine at TSC for 9 bucks. Has fire seal with the kit. Glue the bands of LEDs under the shelfs, and around the door. Install mag switch in power line, and Leds will come on when you open the door. You can do it for about 30 bucks Stack-On Electrical Cord Accessory Kit http://www.amazon.com/Stack-On-Electrical-Cord-Accessory-Kit/dp/B0058DHXHM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364054300&sr=8-1&keywords=gun+safe+outlet EiioX Waterproof IP65 5 Meter/16.4 Feet Warm White 300 LED Flexible 3528 SMD Strip Light Ribbon with US Version 12V 3A power supply. http://www.amazon.com/EiioX-Waterproof-Flexible-Christmas-Shopping/dp/B009C61VGA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=D3XO03SB7M0B&coliid=I39BF0NWOPUECE Magnetic Switch

I've ordered 2 packs of these, and I REALLY like them. They take 3AA each, motion-activated, plenty bright, and have a pivoting base for mounting: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084HHEL4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have 3 in each front corner (vertically), one mounted to the top of the safe (behind the door), and 1 under a shelf. ![]() ![]() |

Quoted: Quoted: After looking at all the options I like the 120 volt option the extra setup cost with out weigh the lifetime cost of batteries. And the ones I listed, come on when you open the door...... As do the battery powered motion sensitive ones I listed. Pros and cons to both. The battery powered lights were awful nice when power was out during the winter storms. I'm surprised how long the batteries are lasting, however, with 110 which I have run to the safe), I'd never have to worry about them. Maybe I'll add a 110 run to the safe, but keep one of he battery powered units as well. |

My safe had a double outlet / USB power source inside when I got it... I installed a motion sensor switch in the center rear (cost about 15$ via Amazon) and used several lengths of LED rope lights I snagged at Lowes near Christmas time.
Open my safe door and the rope lights are kicked on by the motion sensor. Five minutes without motion and the lights cut off Total cost was under 50$. |
- I'll replace it eventually)
