It looks like I may be moving to Aiken, SC within the next month for work and I'm reading up on state gun laws. I currently have a CCWP in the state of WV. I know that SC has reciprocity with WV however I'm unsure of how soon I'll have to get a SC permit? Will I have to take another training/safety course in SC? Also, I noticed that SC requires that if it's a first time permit, the course must be taken within 3 years of issuance. I'll technically be a first time issuance in SC, or will they honor my WV Permit and training course?
Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks. |

Constitutional Carry just past unanimously out of committee and is headed for a full vote, where it is expected to pass. All you will need is the constitution in a matter of weeks or more. Until then, I don't know about the reciprocity with your old state. Thanks. According to South Carolina's Law Enforcement Division website SC and WV have reciprocity LINK. My main concern is how soon do I need to renew? Upon expiration of my current CCWP or as soon as I permanently change my address? Also, I'm curious if I'll have to retake the safety course in order to get a "new" SC CCWP (according to their website all new applicants must have a training certificate within 3 years however it doesn't mention anything about residents who had one prior). |
