Rep. Mike Thompson, Democrat of California, who is a Vietnam veteran and dedicated deer hunter, told us this morning in a meeting at the Times that he was shocked at how much the gun lobby is now dominated by people who think they need to own the same gun the police or the army has so they can protect themselves against tyranny — a grandiose fantasy

Well yeah, that's why it's the second amendment

Protection from tyranny in perpetuity is a grandiose fantasty? I'll argue it has worked for 237 years and counting you Fudd bastard. What arrogance Sen. Thompson!

Yea,  I served with many of the likes of Mike Thompson.  They were dope smoking assholes who you couldn't trust for a minute.  None of them would ever have your back when the chips were down.  Just because he a Vietnam Vet doesn't mean he is qualified to dictate what weapons the Citizens of the United States are allowed to own.  Most of us served with honor, some served with no honor at all.

Baby steps indeed.............

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Someone forgot the definition of the word, "infringed."
