So I'm from Texas.  I don't like beans in my chili............except.........the other day I was eating at a local restaurant's lunch buffet that has awesome chili (no beans), and they also have outstanding beans (they are cooked with bacon and ham) on the buffet.  Then I tried an experiment.  I put the beans in the chili.  THIS, is the answer.  Cook them both separately, then combine.  I have declared that this is the only way beans should ever be in chili.... Carry on.....

I have always set beans on the table next to the chili along with cheese and onions and oyster crackers. etc. But I refuse to profane my chili myself. Some of us eat chili. Some of us eat chili with beans. May God have mercy on their souls.

Great.

Now Texans are going to start putting beans in their chili and claim it was their idea all along.

No Chili + Beans = Chili with Beans.  Sad that so many on this board are not smart enough to figure it out.

Chili does not have Beans.

There is Chili.
Chili with Beans and
Chilibeans.

Per wikipedia:

Texas-style chili may or may not contain beans and may even be made with no other vegetables whatsoever besides chili peppers.

I don't know if this will work, but here is the OFFICIAL chili rule book:

CASI  ETA: It's a PDF document.

Pay special attention to I Chili Cooking Rules, A, 2. Or; I;A,2 if you like.

It states as follows:

"NO FILLERS IN CHILI - Beans, macaroni, rice, hominy, or other similar ingredients are not permitted."

I rest my case.
