That's all we get for 5000? A picture of a bill? No cool story, neat guns, interesting facts? Your Post 5000....is disappointing.
The $5,000 bill featured James Madison on the obverse. There is a large-sized $5,000 Federal Reserve Note on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. The $5,000 bill was printed as a gold certificate in 1928, and a federal reserve note in 1928, 1934, and 1934A. As of May 30, 2009, 342 $5,000 bills were known to exist
That's all I got. |

That's all I got. That's better! Now I can say I actually learned something today. |

I never knew that there was ever a $5000 bill. Handled plenty of $500s and seen a few $1000s, but a $5000 is news to me. Wonder if they might not come back before Obozo is done, even though they'd be worth about $5 or less in today's money. Yeah. My company does some work for the fed bank in NYC. There's a display (not on the public tour) on one of the exec floors with a few of these, and some other weird bills most would never see. Pretty cool. That's what made me think of this thread. |
