This looks like a pretty cool invention. It's worth $69.00 just for reading the engine codes.
If it saves just a tenth of what they claim it will pay for itself. Link to website: http://www.automatic.com/

Looks like a neat product, and I'll check it out. But this is : "Speeding doesn't save as much time as you might think, but driving 10 MPH over the speed limit reduces fuel efficiency by 12-15%." Quite a blanket statement, since they don't know what I'm driving or what the speed limit is. |
|
christ you know what that could also do???
log your speed. you're crusing down the road and some douchebag with a shield decideds you're 15 over and gives you a ticket for it when you aren't speeding. you show up to court "well your honor my phones gps AND my cars on board computer say i was doing 40 on 5th street at 10am on the 5th of may. not 55. the cop is lying. here is my proof" |

Quite a blanket statement, since they don't know what I'm driving or what the speed limit is. at 70 I get 37 mpg. at 80 its more like 34. that statement is close. |

That's pretty cool. Works almost like a direct copy of MyLink (GM). I'll have a chat with our parts manager and see if I can get him to order a few. I'm sure it would make a good selling tool for our used car department. no shit. they add an audio jack to interface into your stereo and at $99 they'd never keep them in stock. |

What if the speed limit is 45? I actually get better mileage at 55 than 45. Certainly not 10% worse. |

Don't see how this is better than Torque. For starters Torque looks like it only works with Android. No Torque for iPhones? Not surprised I guess. Sounds like typical Apple. Charge $70 for something comparable to what you can download for free with Android. |

I would guess there is some design or technological limitation keeping the Torque from being delivered cross platform. |

Looks like the Beta test shipments are about to go out. From their Facebook on 6/19: We're
excited to announce that Automatic will begin shipping to Private Beta customers in a few days! The rollout will start small and ramp up over the coming weeks. Your shipping order will be based on a few factors like your order date and type of car. We can't wait to get Automatic into your hands and hear what you think! |

I would guess there is some design or technological limitation keeping the Torque from being delivered cross platform. Apple don't like people using Bluetooth serial. I hope folks realise that you can do all of this on android with a $10 dongle and an app that costs a couple of bucks? |
