Ministers from a number of different departments of the Saudi Arabian government are investigating whether a firing squad makes more sense than beheading by a sword, Gulf News reported Sunday. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2013/03/10/Saudi-Arabia-may-switch-execution-method/UPI-47171362929042/?spt=hs&or=tn Great, even less bullets for everyone else.

I hate everything about that fucking country. I rank it with North Korea in terms of tyranny. When I read that story about a a bunch of girls burning to death because the religious police ordered them back into a burning building to get their head coverings, I knew all I ever needed to. |

They also still occasionally execute people by crucifixion in Saudi Arabia. Yeah, not kidding. ETA: in fact, last week, a guy was sentenced to be crucified for three days (and then presumably beheaded afterwards if he's not dead yet) sometimes it is most merciful to go that way. Once they go to the afterlife they will be tortured for all eternity with punishments far greater than crucification 3 days on the cross is a mercy compared to what he is destined for. |

Give it a rest. |

Third world shitholes that would still be living in tents if it weren't for the dumb luck of living on top of a pool of oil. They produce nothing and offer nothing to the world other than oil and terrorism. That can be said about most middle eastern countries.

From the few sword swings vids I have seen it looks like a pretty quick and effective method. I was surprised and how little force is used to swing the sword..
While the Saudis are a little better trained then most in the area I still stink I would chose the sword over five guys and 100 snack bars. |

It seems like swords can be reused, thus reducing The Kingdom's carbon footprint. That'd oughta make up for all the oil they produce. Operator error, 2nd stroke required, moving target, etc. Guillotine works efficiently enough if you just want to sever a head. |

Seven men executed for Saudi armed robberies Seven Saudi men convicted of theft, looting and armed robbery have been executed, according to the country's official news agency, more than a week after their families and a rights group appealed to the king for clemency. The executions took place on Wednesday in Abha, a city in the southern region of Asir, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. The Associated Press news agency quoted a resident who witnessed the execution as saying that the seven were shot dead by a firing squad, a first in the kingdom, which traditionally has beheaded convicts sentenced to death. |
