I think this has been covered before but I cannot seem to find the thread.  I was moved over to management and need to find a decent pair of shoes.  I've been wearing dockers, dress shirts (no tie) and a pair of black dress shoes that I've had since the beginning of time. I'm thinking I should probably take it up a notch and need to start with a good pair of shoes.  I would prefer to keep it around $200 but could be talked into spending more.  What do you guys recommend?

it's more important that they fit than how much they cost. In my opinion you should get two pairs of shoes that are comfortable for you and rotate wearing them.

You can get something decent at Shoe Carnival or one of those places.

Carmina pythons is the only real answer.

Just walk in to Men's Wearhouse and tell them what colors you like and what your job is.

Pay tab. Call it good.

I was in the exact same boat...

I know it's lame but unfortunately in business people tend to notice a mans watch, shoes and clothing.  I don't like it, but it's the way it is.  It's kind of one of those 'you have to spend money to make money things'.

Usually when you spend decent money on a piece of clothing comfort is a given..... unless you are in holywood :)

Im the one who started a shoe thread a while back.

Since then, I purchased two sets of Allan Edmunds LaSalle shoes. They are more comfortable then my running shoes.

Not sure if this is a foot joke, a masterbation joke, or a bestiality joke.  I want to laugh.

OP, if you're going to upgrade your footwear, but stick with the Dockers, some of the recommendations in this thread are too dressy.  I'd suggest Clarks.

The rest is being upgraded too.  Not sure to what yet.  I'm lacking in style.  Us nerds need help in this area :)

Any of these or something similar.  A good pair of cowboy style boots can be both comfortable and classy.  plus you dont have to feel like your wearing girly man shoes when you are walking around in a nice shiny pair of Ropers or some other style boot.

Those Ass Kickin boots, might be a bit over the top, but kinda cool in a funny way

I've owned two pairs of Allen Edmonds over the last 9 years one pair in black and one in chestnut.  I still wear the black pair daily, but somehow managed to loose the others.    Regardless they are well made and will seem to last forever with minimum care.  I have heal taps and sole protectors installed about twice a year for about $20.

I hadn't heard of the Alden shoes others are recommending, I'll have to check those out.

I posted my cheaper options earlier.  For real shoes, a nice pair of Crocodile and woven leather are my choice for brown, for black all Crocodile.  Yeah they are spendy but damn near indestructible.  I used to have to wear expensive suits  The Crocodile skin does not get nicked and lasts forever.  10 years plus for a pair that you can resole.

If shoes are really a big deal, getting noticed wise, your choice should be one of these.
