I won't buy from them if they have a join date of 2013, or late 2012.

I will break this rule if they have 5+ good feedback.

I would if the seller sent the item first and after inspection I would send payment. Especially if the item was for more than about 50 dollars.

When I started selling I shipped several items before receiving payment.
As long as you're smart about it there is very little risk.

If it was local I wouldn't be too concerned.

If it was small $$, probably would give it a go.

Request some extra pics. Then some more extra pics. If they come back quick and in good quality, its a good sign.

Talk to the real person on the phone- feel 'em out.

If your gut tells you its okay, it probably is.

For high dollar items - use extra caution.

I sold a centurian arms c4 rail through IM. Never sold anything in the EE yet. I'm sure the recipient would say our transaction went well. So I've gotta say yes. Not everyone is a scammer
