Cool, but autonomous operation is really required for it to be of value against a grown up enemy. The data link is too vulnerable.

A steel-on-steel JSOW strike, followed by a crash landing back at the based hit by a bunch of surface-to-surface missiles!

That is COOL!

I had a real hard time watching without laughing to some extent.  All I could keep thinking about was the propaganda clips from Starship Troopers.

Dead bug

I'm doing my part!

I guess we are back in the numbers game.  No stealth, active jamming, and send it lots and lots of asset, overwhlem their defense, and eventually a few made it thru and drop the weapons...mission accomplished.

I recall similar tactics back in WW-2, where we send dozens of B-17 to go after a bridge.

Low tech do have their advantages, they are cheap.

Avenger only survives in a permissive environment.
Faced with rings of BUK, TOR and Pantsyr SAMs surrounding the big S-300 SAMs, the Avenger doesn't stand a chance.
And reliance on electronic countermeasures is a fool's bet that your EW software programmers are better than the enemy's ECCM software programmers.

There is always going to be risk...however, an ADA network can only deny airspace...the UAVs/Cruise Missiles/Strikers can use airspace.

Honestly, I like the idea of LO autonomous UAVs for SEAD. I think that is their niche.

I'm surprised they even showed one of them getting shot down

So manned a/c would survive in that arena?  I'd rather a swarm of cheap UCAVs lay some devastation down on the AD than lose manned planes.
