I understand that law in Louisiana and Puerto Rixo are strongly influenced by the Napoleonic Code.
Our Constitution is in force over both these jurisdictions and is based on Common Law.

How is that reconciled?

Louisiana became part of the U.S. the year before the Napoleonic code was established.

Ahh, thank you.  I guess it would be Have been Roman law or whatever the Frwnch had before Napoleon.  

PR I am pretty sure has napoleonic/Roman/Spanish law influences
