I am looking for a decent analog watch that is in the range of $200-$500 with an absolute maximum of $600. The feature I want in the watch are a stainless metal band, analog, preferably black dial, displays the date (weekday not necessary), I prefer the numbers to 1-12 (no fancy roman numerals or just notches I want an easy reading watch), must have a second hand, I would love it if the second were graduated in 5 second intervals but not a requirement, and I do not want the watch to be excessively large or super flashy.

Some watches I like that are out of or at the maximum high end of my price range:
Sinn 556

Hamilton Khaki Field

Could you guys suggest me any watches that fit these criteria? What do you wear daily? If something fits this criteria but is out of the price range please post anyways as I have to have something to work for... I'm open to all suggestions for that matter... Thanks in advance!

Wearing a digital watch is like wearing shoes that have velcro instead of laces. You will never get laid wearing either.

Go with the Hamilton.

I know this is repeated constantly, but we NEED a watch forum!

I like that Hamilton myself.
I plan on getting a Hamilton as soon as I meet my goal of getting a better job

Probably a bit too .mil for you, but at $125 shipped, it's a nice watch with a very good automatic movement.

I love my Timex Weekender.

Girls ask about it, it keeps great time, and when I kill it it costs thirty bucks on Amazon.

Seems like you like flieger style watches. How about these
http://www.longislandwatch.com/Messerschmitt_German_Pilot_Watches_s/1831.htm
Only downside is that they're quartz. And no steel band. Seikos would be a safe bet
Edit- also check out aeromatic for more fliegers.

Keep in mind that a $30 quartz Timex is far FAR more accurate than ANY mechanical watch, no matter how much you pay for it.

That being said, I would look at some of the nicer analog quartz watches, such as Seiko Kinetic and Citizen Eco drive; since neither require replacing batteries.

And, I will never own another watch that doesn't have a sapphire crystal. They simply don't get scratched the way glass or 'mineral crystal' watches do. Sapphire is may times harder than glass.

It should be pretty easy to find a nice watch in the $200 to $300 range, I would think.

I will never go back to a mechanical watch, after wearing quartz watches for so many years.

My Citizen Eco Drive analog (with small LCD display) loses less than 30 seconds every 6 to 7 months. I only have to reset it at the change of daylight saving time, twice a year.

If you're patient you can find some really good deals out there. I picked up a Fortis Spacematic off Amazon for a little more than $1000.00. The watch usually retails for about 1800.00 or so. If you're patient and have your heart set on something then it's entirely doable.

If you don't mind spending a little more than your budget calls for right now there are also Stowa watches. They're probably next on my list, or maybe a Sinn.

Hamilton kakhi or jazzmaster or some of the simpler dressy auto Tissot or seiko 5
Are great values. Sinn ( and many others) are expensive for what it is... which is an ETA
Movement in a steel case, just like a $3-400 tissot/hamilton

I like that Sinn556 and Hamilton.
You will be happy with either.

Higher than what you were looking for.

I was almost 100% positive that Hamilton uses Valjoux movements.  I know the x-wind I have uses one.

OP:  The Sinn 556 is an excellent watch.  Best to find them slightly used on watchforum or watchuseek.  You'll save several hundred dollars and you're buying from a watch collector/aficianado who knows how to take care of it.

Hamilton is good too, but for the same reason (cost) you'll do best to buy it slightly used.

IMO, quartz watches have no soul.

Have one. Nice watch. Easy to see in dark. Finish wearing off band after less than two years of intermittent wear.

Luminox makes some more casual or dress watches too- great quality and keeps better time than my Submariner.  My work watch is a $59 Timex Expedition.
A friend of mine got a titanium chrono from Orvis with high quality movement, saphire etc.
Get your Google on... there's a lot out there.

Get a Hamilton or Tissot, way more 'soul' than a Citizen or Seiko, and skip the quartz.

What's the rush?  Save 600 more and purchase the Sinn.  You won't regret it.  I have the 556i and it is a great watch.

You can get that on Amazon for $60 and get free 2 day shipping with prime

Another vote for Hamilton or Tissot if you find it in your price range.  If you didn't mind a strap or getting an after market metal bracelet a quick google search found this: Hamilton H32515535

Someone also posted a Seiko-5.  I think that can be had in the $100 range.  Seiko makes a solid watch too.

Hamilton, Citizen, or Seiko, all have good watches for what you are looking for.

I have a Hamilton Linwood Chronograph that is a good buy for the money

I'd pick up a Citizen Eco Drive.....Save the money for something else.

I've got a Casio Tough Solar that has been going strong for years.  I'd eventually like to get something a bit lower profile.

Since a site like Watchismo will have 6000 watches with about 4000 of them matching your requirements who is going to guess which one will appeal to your personal tastes?
