They can't tell time, yet my 2 dogs know the alarm goes off at 5:30 am during the week, if we are not up {Forget to set alarm} they
are in the room ready to play, or at the bed making noise trying to get us up

They Know my stepson walks in at 3pm...they are at the door by then waiting.....

They know the wife get's home around 5 to 6...they lay by the door waiting.

How do they know it's "time"?

Animals must have some kind of internal clock.  My cat sleeps 20 hours a day but manages to keep his accurate.

It's a good thing, too.  I accidentally set my alarm for 7:30 PM last night, and at 7:40 AM he came and woke me up.  He's got talent- he knows the proper pressure points to press to get me up fast, bless his little heart.

I work a compressed work schedule, so I get every other friday off. My off friday, dogs are still up at 530 trying to wake me up. FFFFUUUUU.....

Once it hits the weekend they dont care how late I sleep. But nooooooo, not that extra day off. Still gotta wake up early

Animals have been able to tell time by looking at the clock on the wall for hundreds of years.

Its known now that all house pets (dogs cats Ect.) can find a clock and look at it knowing the time. Has to be an old style clock with hands and not a digital. DUH dogs can't read. But they can tell the direction in which the arms are pointing and then look outside to see if its light or dark. They then can tell if its long arm up short arm straight over to the right, it is 3:00 am if its dark outside.

Funny thing is they have adapted quite well to Day Light Savings Time, and can adjust in a few days.

It has to do with where the big hand and the little hand are.

Ask your dogs to explain it to you.

my cat stares at the clock on the microwave until exactly 830 pm. then it is crazy time till nine. He watches the clock. then he waits by the food bowl.

he also watches TV. he likes my shows and tolorates some of the wifes shows. he does actually watch the tv. when a comercial for the shows I watch come on he stops and pays attention. he even comes out from hiding to see what the comercial is.

My dog comes to get me every morning at 7:30. Don't know why. I get up at probably a different time every morning.

my 2 dogs are like this to the T.  0830; if I am not up, the male is walking on my feet/legs and my female is sitting on the floor staring at me and will lick my face just a bit to try and wake me.  Once up,  if i dont get them breakfast first, they will both paw at the pantry door.  Once they are done (about 10 secs) they have to be let outside.  usually this is enough time for me to do my thing.  5 mins later they will paw at the door till I let them in.  NOW that i am up and awake, they will either sit next to me and go back to sleep, go in the bedroom and go to sleep, or maybe play with their toys for a bit, and go back to sleep.   I get home between 2205-2210hrs and my g/f says around 2000 hrs  all 3 dogs will start acting up and wanting in/out the back yard and then staring at the door that goes to the garage till I walk through.  If they are out back and hear my motorcycle, she says the go into freakout mode and are running all over the place jump at the door leading to the garage.  then around 0030-0100 hrs, when its time to go to bed, they wil walk back and forth to the bedroom and my female will try to sit ON me till we go to bed.  Once in bed, my female MUST sleep under the covers and my male will sleep on either mine or my g/fs legs/feet.

They can also hear the slightly different noises each vehicle makes, and can tell who is pulling up to the house by the sound of their vehicle. My dogs dislike the neighbor's kids, and go ape when they hear their truck pull up. When I my wife or I pull up to the house they sit at the door wagging their tails.

Oh Yeah..wife had a GT 'stang and was pretty loud, they would it the door before I hear it...then she pulls in about 10 sec. later
Its a trip...now they can't, she has a Cooper S....funny thing is, ANYTIME a Mustang comes down the street, they still hit the door
