| We have an ultra orthodox, hasidic jewish community within our town and they have signs posted at every entrance into their little hamlet/village that those who enter must conform to their code of dress, gender segregation, etc. It cannot legally be enforced but they have tried and it usually gets pretty ugly. |

For god's sake, don't watch the last video in that link by Sheikh Shams Ad Duda, or you'll accidentally be exposed to the fact that good, reasonable Muslims do exist.
Actually, good to see a Muslim leader speaking publicly like that. ETA: For those who's attention span is shorter than 30 seconds, he is preaching to his congregation and he breaks down what these kids patrolling did as being completely against shariah law. And he ends it by saying that they will have to stand before Allah one day and account for perverting shariah and damaging Islam because of these actions.

Their spokespeople, like CAIR and FIO, are well-known to lie and obfuscate (and the Qur'an instructs them to do so), so if there are moderate - or even "conservative" Muslims, you can't tell the trees from the forest. Kind of a problem of their own making, and deserving of little sympathy. |
