Okay. So we all know our press is biased. But, what - if anything - can we do when members of the national press manufacture news? I've wondered about this before, but a comment on infowars (by a guy in the UK - warning of Morgan's history) got me thinking about it anew.

Our press has always lied and/or distorted facts - for any number of reasons. For example, imbedded reporters are highly censored by the Defense Department (for obvious reasons). That's understandable and I support that. But, what about when they intentionally LIE to the American public to further a political agenda - without any public statement or notice, regarding their intent or goals?

Is there really absolutely nothing we can do but turn the channel/turn off the TV or not buy their papers/magazines?

With all the mindless laws in this country, you'd THINK there'd be ONE that would be applicable here. You know?

Thoughts? (And let's TRY to be factual, please - not just knee-jerk absolutists in our comments.) Thank you.

The internet is the free press.

Yeah, but I'm talking about the "established" press-media.

Where the internet is concerned, liable and such has its place. But, the gov is even trying to stifle individual voices on the web - bloggers and such.

What got me going on this is the way MSNBC, in particular, spews - not only hateful rhetoric, but outright, provable lies. There's GOT to be some obscure law which can be applied to get them to change their ways over there! Individual, civil lawsuits are ineffective - mostly because the network's army of lawyers can bankrupt whoever's filed suit, by dragging it out indefinitely. I'm thinking a state or large community's LEO or Justice Department action.... based on "whatever law" I'm hoping exists.

You know?

Edit: TRUTH HAS TO MATTER!

Would you really want them to put restraints on the First Amendment also? I'm sure they'll get around to it after the Second is gutted.
