So we got a really nice blanket of snow 3-4" And it was a sunny but still cold morning and my gf made me a sandwich and went out to feed the horses as she always does early in the morning. It was a beutiful day, and I could see the 30 odd turkey hens that roost in the woods out back pecking around in the fieilds like they always do in the morning. Everything looked so great until I glanced over to my dog's kennel and went Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? There was a single path leading to it but tracks everywhere all around it. i knew immediately it was the local coyote pack. They had come for my dog. It is a little bit rare and quite brazen that they would do that and I haven't seen them in quite awhile because I always show up always show up with an AR and they skeedadle in the middle of the night. Not last night apparently though because little did those doofuses know, but the dog they were looking for was actually kicking it with me in the house and watching season 4 of Rescue Me. with a lot of toy time too (we had a ball together). I thought it was funny because my dog always signals when they are around but not last night. My gf came back from feeding and said she was going to take some remaining cornbread she made last week over to the neighbors chickens because it was gonna go stale. She walked in the house and said "I just walked over there with a bag of stale bread and came back with a dozen fresh eggs!" Now how sweet is that? I asked her if she seen the kennel today and she had one word. Coyote. She said that the neighbors told her that the coyotes had visited the chicken coop last night too. It is well protected and they didn't kill anything, but they were there. I hate those sneaky bastards and their day is coming. |
