I've posted the following question in the AR15 forum. But I'm not geeting much response.

I was cleaning out my ammo boxe's this morning and I discovered that I have a Colt 8 round AR magazine.

I've never heard of an 8 round AR mag, and I can't find any information on it. The top of the mag (metal part) measures 2 1/2 inche's long, and the bottom (plastic part) measures about 7/8 of an inch long.

The bottom (plastic part) is marked 'Colt's MFG CO INC HARTFORT CONN U.S.A..

I thought that it might be a 5 or 10 round mag. But it only holds 8 rounds. I think that it might have came with a Colt Match Target Lightweight. But I'm not sure.

Any ideas on it, and what it might be worth?

Edit: Crappy picture.

Does it look like this?

I think Colt shipped them with some rifles during the AWB.

Sounds like a PC mag from the last AWB.

It has no added value.

That's it. Would it have any value to commie state users?

This is correct. My post ban MT6601 came with two of them.

I'm sure the ban staters that can only have 7 rnds would love to have one that holds 8.

I had always thought those held 9 or 10 rounds. (glad I never had one)

Have no idea what they are worth though.

I bought a early Colt non evil "Sporter" HBAR, they shipped them at that point, with a flash hider, but no bayonette lug, right before they started changing the pin sizes, and removing the flash hider, to further neuter them

It came with two 20 round mags, that had a metal tab riveted to the floorplate that stopped the mag at 10 rounds.  I just drilled the rivet out, and removed the blocker, that was probably why they ended up with this, as the first version was too easy to make evil again.

Remember, this was BEFORE the ban was enacted and Colt was doing it on their own, to take the onus off of them as an evil rifle producer.

A month ago, I would have said, "Keep it, to show you kids how stupid the law WAS", but we are getting back to that if all doesn't go right.

Oh yes.....the memories.

I might still have one of those fillers.

Thanks, I thought it was something like that.

Now that I think about it, the base plates would be marked that. I got good money for the ones I sold years back.
