Is the NICS systems currently backlogged (for those states that use it), resulting in delays?

I use E-Check, so I haven't noticed any issues or delays.  In 5 years I think I've called NICS maybe 10 times, certainly no more than a dozen.  But it depends on whether your state is a "POC" or "non-POC" state.  Washington is a partial "POC" state, so the only slow down in checks is for handgun buyers that don't have Concealed Pistol Licenses.

Last year at SHOT Show, the FBI booth told me that about 2% of FFL's were using E-Check.  This year?  16%!  They had a bunch sign up at SHOT to use E-Check once they figured out it would eliminate long waits on hold to get to a person.  Now they say they are working with ATF to get the e-4473 and E-Check integrated so that if you use e-4473, it will automatically populate the required fields for the E-Check.

It took less than a minute for my wife yesterday.

BTW: Fuck e-4473, I would rather wait.

Thanks all.

I've been reading complaints across VA about the length of delays lately, but we have our own State Police dept that does the checks.

The Fed system seems to be better able to handle the increased load.

I still run nothing but paper 4473's.  But some of the most recent customers' handwriting has been pretty bad (making mine look fantastic in comparison.)

Don't worry Obama going to fix that. I see long delays in the very near future.

I have one backlogged from Monday. It's down in Colorado. I just called a little while ago and they are getting back checks from last Friday today. They are running about 8 days, but I believe its a state check, not national.

Picked up something today and mine went through in under 2 minutes.

So, I am going to say NO DELAY
